Giving covid care a human touch. Our team printed this out for the patients who just see their care being delivered by masks instead of people. Idea by @paulk_mi @UTSWIMchief @DinoKazi #parklandstrong

This sounds like a nice way share comfort. It’s what we do for men and women deployed in the #USmilitary. Would some thing like this pass hospital infection prevention and control review? @PSampathkumarMD

Think social distancing at home is bad? We have lots of patients in hospitals around the country feeling very lonely - no visitors, no human faces, few hands to hold. What is one way to safely make this a more human experience for our inpatients?

If U didn’t listen yesterday to @PSampathkumarMD from @MayoClinic telling everyone how we got here W the PPEs debacle, here is another link where she appeared on #OutspokenOncology explaining proper use, misuse, & what @CDCgov should have done. #WeNeedPPEs https://t.co/dCyPFvX6QA

Let’s not panic and let’s not close the liquor stores. Our ERs, hospitals, and ICUs would be swamped treating folks with alcohol withdrawal, unnecessarily stressing a system that needs to be ready for COVID19 patients. @CabreraERDR @GovTimWalz

Minnesotans storm liquor stores, worried that they won't be considered "essential services" after a shelter-in-place declaration.

I keep thinking of this Milton Friedman quote: 'Only a crisis — actual or perceived — produces real change. When that crisis occurs, the actions that are taken depend on the ideas that are lying around. (...) the politically impossible becomes politically inevitable.'

@JosephHyder I am going to be reviewer 1 and say: #1. The manuscript could likely be shortened. #2. Change ‘one of the biggest game changers’ to ‘HUGE game changers.’

Great thread, Dr Jordan. 🙏🏻 Stopping alcohol store-based sales now would be a disaster. The ERs, hospital beds, and ICUs need to be available for #COVID19 readiness, not people suffering needless alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

Liquor stores in #Philadelphia have shut down for the foreseeable future, minimizing options for Philadelphians to purchase liquor. People with alcohol use disorder (AUD) may be at increased risk of life-threatening alcohol withdrawal. A thread.

ICU bed shortage? Great work by folks smarter than I (⁦@Thomasctsai⁩ among them + ⁦@TheUpshotNYT⁩ ) Not all “ICU beds” are created equal. Capabilities vary *widely* among hospitals and is not easily fixed with gear or teleICU. Options: OR/PACU beds+regional networks

I’m urging @TheFSMB to please see the unanimous support & opinions of physicians practicing in the US & do the right thing in a time of crisis. Do not wait & regret later. Medical Licensure should be automatically valid nationally as it is in federal facilities. #WeAreOneCountry

Calling on all State Medical Boards to immediately issue regulations that all US based physicians licensed to practice in one state are automatically licensed in their state as well. It is possible some states will need urgent medical help. Do my colleagues agree? @drkomanduri

The @CDCgov advice on PPE was problematic during H1N1, but they did eventually provide decent advice. With #COVID19 the CDC has failed us. This has made the job of hospital epidemiologists very difficult. Let me explain. Thread @SHEA_Epi @CarlosdelRio7 @ASlavitt @JInterlandi
