I see lots of Right wingers are using places like Denmark as a shining beacon of why National service is great. It’s funny, cos they don’t ever seem to champion all the OTHER aspects of life for young Danes. Little 🧡 1/12

Thank you all for the kind words and responses! I was merely in the right place at the right time. A lot of people share links to good causes when their images take off around the Internet, so I'll drop this in here for Endometriosis UK. Many thanks! https://t.co/r5Y0oe7Ni8

An incredible light show at one of the most impressive man made structures in the world. I can't believe I was the only photographer here! On the shores of North Queensferry, looking towards the Forth Bridge. @NetworkRailSCOT #Auroraborealis #forthbridge #NorthernLightsuk

If he had to suffer Elton John, he was making sure we would too and always remember it....

But y'know what? It broke the stigma of the moment, and it really felt like Dad had managed to play one last musical joke on us.

So as I gave my brother a moment, I went out of the room and the undertaker protested that he had never heard anybody go into that room and break into laughter. I told him the story of his move to the hospice, and he was very sheepish and apologetic.

We went in, Dad was there, and the room very sombre lit with a few candles and soft music playing. After a minute, we realise...and I turn to my brother and just laughed. "Is that effing Elton John?". The undertaker had no idea about what happened a fortnight earlier...

Dad sadly passed about 36hrs later, peacefully with my siblings at his side. A couple of weeks later, my brother and I went to the undertakers to see Dad before the funeral. The undertaker, very sensitively, set up a room for us to do this in private.

We all get loaded up into the ambulance. On the radio, 'Candle in the Wind' was playing... Dad, in a abrupt spot of clarity, removed his mask and coyly said "Great, I'm going to die to effing Elton John".

So, the day before he passed, he needed to be moved from hospital to hospice. He was rather out of it at this point, on oxygen assistance and morphine for what I could only imagine was agonising pain. Me and my brother decided to go in the ambulance with him for the short trip.

Dad was very much into his music. Had a worldwide popular radio show from a local station, but his tastes could also be very eccentric. If an album had a B side of space fillers, you could guarantee they would be his favourites.

The last week and then month after however, was turbulent. Some of the most sad, but also some of the most memorable and dare I say, hilarious, moments I'll ever recall. There's one story however, which stands out and couldn't help but want to relay it.

Dad, myself and my family all had a rather dark sense of humour to the inevitable. Not gutter talk, but more frank acceptance. At the same time, it was of course difficult, so it was all about trying to make the most of things.

Just catching up with last night's @TheLastLeg , and @adamhillscomedy is talking about losing his father to cancer but holding onto joy and laughter during the difficult times. It was very much the same when losing my own dad in 2016.

My two cents on #PMQs yesterday. Some on Twitter/X say that MP's, in the chamber, should have no fear of expressing their views regardless of who may be in the gallery. Is this not the same chamber that demands members apologise for calling, often correctly, another 'A Liar'?

The #ConservativePartyConference should be rebranded as a 'Worst of Britain' exhibition. Ideas, ideals and people of who the country are being held back, let down, and pollute our population with hatred and bile. Difficult to describe them as anything other than monsters.

As an industry whole, not just preservation, we must ensure that acts of blatant sexism, bigotry and racism are challenged, dealt with appropriately and education given so that such disgraceful situations such as @JoanneMCrompton is facing truly become a thing of the past.

Silly us, leaving and retirement do's are apparently workplace activities and are allowed through pandemics. Will remember to claim overtime for the next one I attend!
