Five minutes ago, my neighbor, Bobby Ehrenberg, 62, got his 50 to life commuted. He showed me the paper from the watch commander as he walked into the cell block. He says, "John, I got it--clemency."

This is my 21st Thanksgiving incarcerated. We do what we can in here. A couple packs of Newport to the guys in the kitchen will get me a hooked up tray. Holidays suck in here, but I'm grateful for a lot, and I'm hoping this will be my last.

Came in the cellblock, saw an open phone, and called @dwaynebetts . He was like, "John, I just got that MacArthur grant...I'm on the phone with them now, but wanted to make sure you good." That's who he is. So proud of you bro! We all are.

The worst part of prison is transit. I got up at 4am for a medical trip yesterday -- shackled, chained, back of a bus -- 17 of us. Stopped at different prisons, waited and waited. At one point, I almost had a panic attack. Heart bounced all around my chest.

All you hear in the NY cellblocks is how Zeidman got this one out, that one out. Thing is, the guy's been doing it with little funding. He hates asking for money. He's the real deal, though. You can support his work at the Second Look Project here:
