When @dwaynebetts and other formerly incarcerated team members helped build a Freedom Library, one patron said their presence made it more than a build—it became a circle of hope and possibility completed. #FreedomReads #prison #books

A year ago, William sent Freedom Reads $1,000 from prison — everything he had. Missouri had no Freedom Libraries then. Today, we’re opening 35. Join William. Help end book deserts in U.S. prisons. 🔗 https://t.co/DhXNjON4Xj

Freedom Reads is reimagining what the prison experience can be — one filled with books and possibility. Our vision is to have a Freedom Library in every cellblock in the USA. Support the movement here: https://t.co/6IX5u8jx2L

From the very beginning Mike has helped bring libraries inside prisons across the country. The power of this work calls him back to a place he once vowed never to return to. #FreedomReads #Prison #Books Our Year-End Appeal is underway. Donate through the link in our bio.

What have you experienced recently that was lovely? That was the question we were asked at our recent all staff meeting. And some talked about the work. We bring beautiful books into prisons and those books change lives. What is not lovely about that? #FreedomReads #prison #books

Books are the cornerstone of the work at Freedom reads. And what about the libraries that house the books themselves? The Freedom Libraries have a moving story of their own. Freedom Reads wants to shine light on all that contributes to the mission. #FreedomReads #prison #books

Home is where the desk is, or where the heart is? What if your heart is where you work? There is a heart beating at each of those desks because wherever we are the work is with us. Freedom Reads started as one man’s dream. Today it is so much more. #FreedomReads #prison #books

Freedom Reads is reminded of the importance of the work we do when we hear from our Freedom Library patrons. When someone that has been where you've been shows up, it matters. We do more than bring books into prisons. We bring freedom. #FreedomReads #prison #books

“Nobody comes back.” Words of a lifer to one returning with life in a book. What former prisoner returns to prison willingly? It’s not a question because no prisoner returns to prison willingly. Except those with a mission and are guided by purpose. #FreedomReads #prison #books

The sounds of the woodshop are the heartbeat of Freedom Reads. Whether it is the sander smoothing out blemishes or the joining of two separately beautiful pieces of wood. We hope you appreciate the sounds as much as we do. #FreedomReads #prison #books

Books in prison take on new meanings when the simple act of reading is deprived or disrupted. Freedom Reads is in the business of transforming experiences, and transformative experiences change lives. We do so one Freedom Library, one book at a time. #FreedomReads #prison #books

📚 We’d like to thank @million_book and founder Dwayne Betts for partnering with us to expand access to literature inside our facilities. The Freedom Reads Project came to MCI-Shirley Medium to install bookshelves in 13 housing units, plus one for staff in our roll call area.

Our mission is to place a Freedom Library in every cell block in every prison. Without the library team who build our Freedom Libraries we wouldn’t be able to fulfill that mission. Today we feature them in appreciation for the important work they do. #FreedomReads #prison #books
