Tatiana Schlossberg, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, is incredibly brave to publish this piece @newyorker.com. She writes beautifully and thinks clearly. God grant her and her family strength and peace.

When I was diagnosed with leukemia, my first thought was that this couldn’t be happening to me, to my family.

This is so sad. Alice was in so many ways a trailblazer for people with disabilities. She dealt with so many health issues toward the end of her life. But she contributed so much to reshaping how the world perceives people with disabilities. Farewell, Alice.

This story so good.
Zohran Mamdani built an anti-loneliness campaign. He met voters who were attached to screens, isolated from the pandemic, spiritually unmoored — and got them out of the house, because the political, to them, was personal. W/ the wonderful @boreskes

Average Larissa MacFarquhar experience
Just finished this essay in the New Yorker on aphantasia. Very exceptional and - I don’t feel this often about New Yorker essays - groundbreaking. Instead of the cliches of the “apple visualization test” there is a reevaluation of the spectrum of human experience in its totality.

Oz Pearlman has revealed Joe Rogan’s A.T.M. code on air and entertained N.F.L. stars. Now the manosphere’s favorite magician wants more.

Wrote about Percival Everett's James this spring. It's the best novel I've read in a number of years and I'm stoked it won the National Book Award. Everett very much deserves it. https://t.co/XsXE9yoTq8

Saw Nick Cave in Paris recently at the Accor Arena and I was really struck by that song Joy where he sings “We’ve all had too much sorrow, now it the time for joy.” I was thinking to myself, yeah that’s about right.

Doug Burgum likes to say that, as governor of North Dakota, nukes are in his backyard. But when I interviewed him, he repeatedly refused to tell me whether Trump could be trusted with the nuclear codes:
theatlantic.com
Doug Burgum is running for president, whether people realize it or not.
Speaking at his event at Mar-a-Lago, Trump just said that Doug Burgum will be the secretary of the Department of the Interior. He said he was going to announce it tomorrow, but then said he'll announce it now instead.

New >> California and New York are projected to lose up to 8 electoral votes in 2030. Texas and Florida are projected to gain 8. If Kamala Harris had to compete with that map, even winning Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin wouldn’t have saved her.

The latest US literacy stats have just dropped and they are every bit as grim as you might imagine. "Approximately 50% of Americans read so poorly that they are unable to perform simple tasks such as reading prescription drug labels"

Trump in 2016: “There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble.” https://t.co/IvD7zTKKgz

I wrote a very long piece for @nymag about the New York City Marathon, the election, human kindness and, well, everything. I hope that you will read it, and that you will find it helpful. Please be safe out there today.
