A riveting tale! So says Thomas Urquhart in @PressHerald (Maine!) book review of NEW WORLD, INC. "Religious freedom wasn't all that drove the founding of America" https://t.co/VhIcnf0WzR Thanks for the smart review and appreciation of our "lively style"—citing my favorite line!

A rare piece of advice writing: useful, humble, amusing, perceptive. A synthesis of others' thinking, but not a rehash or another restatement of the obvious. Kindness Is a Skill https://t.co/MHY2PckgUr Brooks is taking on the mantle formerly worn by Mr. Rogers.

Listening to @susanorlean talk about THE LIBRARY BOOK reminded me again of how precious is the physical library—and, in particular for me, the @bostonathenaeum, where I love to roam the stacks, get lost in the legendary "drum", and even explore the slightly scary basement.

The lure of precious metal is as strong and devilish as ever. In my new book @newworldincbook we write about the founding of this silver mine by the Spanish in 1545 and how it provoked the English into American exploration. @simontargett05 @littlebrown

Insane longing—that's what drove the English into a mad rush for gold across the Atlantic in 1576. Complete bust made them realize American LAND was a much better bet. @JohnButman and @simontargett05, @FinanceMuseum, based on @newworldincbook @littlebrown

Location, Location, Location. It applies as much to book reviews as property. So I was pleased to see my book #newworldincbook prominently displayed in the masthead of the @WSJBookReviews today. @JohnButman @littlebrown @AtlanticBooks

I agree that it applies to book development too! We had three failures before finally securing a publisher for our book, The Moment You Can't Ignore, thanks in large part to @JohnButman and his ability to draw energy from as far back as the 16th Century

We've had positive response to the "failure" theme of our @madebyhistory post https://t.co/2sByF8WsBp—that Americans view failure as an accepted, even necessary, part of creating a success. https://t.co/QtoJkt4cFu story adds more evidence. Lesson applies to book development, too!

There is a lot of fascinating work being done into the earliest European settlements in Virginia and North Carolina these days. In Jamestown, archeologists #JamestownRediscovery unearthed a skeleton that could be that of settler George Yeardley.
