Historians are never in a position to be winners or losers in this realm. But we still have an obligation--moral, intellectual, civic, political--to contribute to the collective conversation and do our best to expose its mistaken premises, arguments, and conclusions.
No shade intended, I am just here to tell people it is a losing game for historians to try to be more originalist than originalism. None of the judges really care about the history and you will find zero answers to our nation's horrible problem with guns in the 18th century.

My pal Harrison Diskin and I have a piece in @madebyhistory on early American infrastructure. Many thanks to @car1ygoodman for the excellent work editing the piece.

Infrastructure plans are always political. The key is being inclusive and focusing on the public good.
