Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.

Communication fails because people focus only on what they want to say, never what the listener cares about.

5/ If you tend to downplay yourself: Pause instead of using “um.” End sentences with downward intonation. Swap weak qualifiers for decisive phrases like “I suggest” or “I recommend.”

4/ If you jump in too fast, try this: Listen intently. Pause 2 seconds before speaking. Acknowledge & appreciate others' contributions.

Most people think charisma is something you're born with. The truth? It’s a mindset—and a skill you can develop. How?

100% agree. You can’t own an ecosystem. It stifles growth.

As an tech startup guy I can say no one in SV thinks the bailout was for startups - the run on midsize banks this week if only GSIBs were considered safe was going to be Great Depression-esque in scale

Relatedly I think the VCs believe the purpose of the bailout is to save their precious portfolio companies, when it’s actually to save other midsize banks from runs

When I started @soonastudios - I approached 27 banks for a line of credit and credit card. I received not one offer despite running a profitable, multimillion dollar business for 7 years prior. Then we got into @Techstars and @SVB_Financial stepped in to help us get started.

At the risk of sounding like my father: If you people don't want fireworks to get banned, this is not how you behave. 15 emergency personnel injured by 💥, one tourist bus in flames, two people lost an eye and 10 operations at Marzahn trauma ward (burn/amp). From @Tagesspiegel

Don’t love the structure of Mastadon. Post looks closer to multithread structure of Twitter I liked. 🤞

If this app goes away, I’ll always remember the good times we spent together as well as the 30-50 feral hogs that ran into that guys yard within 3-5 min of his children playing

Interesting - seen this play out in the Techstars network of funds started by former MDs. Strong networks, #givefirst culture etc.

Two genealogies shape a lot of tech world: The Traitorous Eight, who left Fairchild Semiconductor to start Silicon Valley, and the PayPal Mafia. Lineage matters because startups carry over culture, practices & approaches from their “parents,” where founders used to work. 1/2
