With 2026 ACA plans officially live, we can now see the impact of Congress' failure to extend enhanced premium tax credits. A 64 YO couple in Morgantown with household income of $85k will see their premiums for the same plan increase by over $4,000 *per month*

KJP is an artifact of an age that looks recent on paper but feels prehistoric in practice—the age of pantsuits, the word “empowerment,” the musical “Hamilton,” cheap therapeutic entreaties to “work on yourself” and “lean in” to various corporate abysses.

Karine Jean-Pierre’s memoir offers a critique of Biden and the Democrats that is outdated, impractical and driven more by personal grievance than policy.

every single dollar spent on SNAP generates around $1.50 to $1.89 in economic output. it actually helps the economy when our government feeds hungry people.

My faith teaches me that food is lifegiving and meant to be shared. From the miracle of fishes and loaves to the Last Supper, we are called to feed and care for each other. The Trump administration prohibiting SNAP benefits is wrong. We should be fighting hunger, not causing it.

Cuts to SNAP and a refusal to fund it during the shutdown, plus the increased cost of food because of his tariffs, means Americans will starve. We’ll never truly know how bad it gets, because Trump cancelled the report on hunger because he knows it will make him look bad.

The Trump admin says it won’t tap into its $6 billion contingency fund to cover food stamp benefits if the shutdown continues, according to an agency memo That means roughly 42 mil Americans will not receive critical food assistance from SNAP in November

the legislature's tax cuts at the state level are precisely what's driving the need to backfill lost revenue at the local level to keep schools afloat and provide adequate public safety. it's a bait and switch that abdicates the GOP supermajority of their responsibilities.

Everyone is rightly outraged at the near 20% property tax hike proposed by Salt Lake County under Jenny Wilson. But the Utah Constitution explicitly assigns the power of taxation to the Legislature, which then delegates that authority to local governments. Governor Cox could

The Utah Department of Workforce Services said that SNAP funds will not be issued in November should the government remain shutdown. This will impact 86 thousand households in the state who rely on SNAP for fresh food. They said that not only will funds not be refreshed,

Democratic leaders have got to find a way to talk about taxes. Dems have failed to connect the dots on what taxes fund and failed to show constituents how government CAN work.

Truth is taxation and general disdain for tax increases also makes it really hard for counties to make incremental rate increases over time. I know a lot of Utah’s counties have waited too long to do these increases.

I did a deep dive into Utah’s property tax structure here: https://t.co/GjtrXSiK9V Utah’s truth in taxation law has unfortunately also made counties procrastinate their needed tax rate increases. But ultimately relying more on property taxes is not equitable.

If you oppose county property taxes increases, please think about the problem holistically. Oppose the Legislature’s annual tax cut.
