I wrote a blog last session about how the Utah Leg’s tax cuts are leading to increased property taxes ( https://t.co/62avJVmLuf). It’s about education funding and school districts, but the same concept applies to county services. Cutting taxes doesn’t mean needs go away. #utleg

TODAY: The @SLCoMayor will propose her budget to the @SLCo_Council at 10 a.m. which includes a proposed 19.6% property tax increase. Inflationary pressures and rising operational costs for essential services are said to be the reason. It would generate $48.9 mil.

We joined health care advocates from @utchildren to visit @SenJohnCurtis today & urge him to #ProtectMedicaid from cuts. #Medicaid is a lifeline for cancer patients & all those at risk of developing the disease. Utahns need reliable access to health care.

Vouchers don’t cover the cost of private school—you do. When vouchers divert taxpayer money to private schools, public schools lose vital programs, increase class sizes, and sometimes shut down, harming students the most. Learn more: https://t.co/rIxK32WeyT @PEER_equity

.@utchildren’s Anna Thomas believes Utah leaders’ lack of action on child care comes down to a reluctance for funding. “You run out of options really fast if you're not willing to spend any money,” she said.

Invest in Communities, Not Deportation: As the budget reconciliation process continues, let your lawmakers know that instead of slashing funding for Medicaid and the CTC, they should focus on investing in communities and ensuring stability for families. https://t.co/MlhvLNJH25

The lack of refundability severely limits the impact of Utah's child tax credit. Voices for Utah Children will continue advocating for tax credit refundability, which would make 21.7% of children eligible for an average tax savings of $1,297.
