.@zachthemack and his dad both wanted to mend a rift that had grown between them for years, but they couldn't figure out how. Then Zach's dad offered a very surprising way out.

In 24 hours, I went from never having heard of Watch Duty to checking the app religiously. Turns out I’m not alone. Terrific @thewendylee story on the resource we’re all glued to right now, for @latimes:

When the fires are at their worst, southern California's TV stations are at their best. The hyperlocal live coverage alerts residents to evacuation warnings; gives real-time info about shelters and other resources; and shows exactly where and how the fires are spreading.

Check out my investigative piece on Love Is Blind, the Netflix hit that sold itself to cast members as a pure-hearted psych experiment—and is currently being sued for false imprisonment, labor violations & setting people up with dangerous soulmates https://t.co/57EMal66dl

Reality-TV contestants are barely paid, and the experience can feel like abuse. Former cast members of Netflix’s megahit are speaking out—and calling for solidarity.

Thanks to everyone who read my piece about #NPR, and found it helpful. I wanted to share a few thoughts about what's harmful about the false "wokeness" narrative about the place. https://t.co/v8GnZX74cA via @slate

One underestimated aspect of Parks & Rec was how fully it nailed the media, from Perd Hapley to Joan Calamezzo & the Gotcha Dancers to Crazy Ira and the Douche to that hilarious NPR parody. Shauna Malwae-Tweep was the most legit journalist in that town & she's 100% unemployed now

A few years ago, Vice was valued at $5.7 billion. They published some of the smartest, most interesting, and fearless journalism of the last decade. And now private equity is going to strip it for parts to make a bunch of outdated nostalgia meme pages. Unspeakably grim shit.

In September, 2014, Mackenzie Fierceton arrived at her high school “with a bloodied and battered face,” one teacher wrote. The incident—and her mother’s account of it—would come to haunt Fierceton’s every move. https://t.co/ptcr3UnmgX

Mackenzie Fierceton was championed as a former foster youth who had overcome an abusive childhood and won a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. Then the University of Pennsylvania accused her of lying.
