Whilst @gilescoren is a great columnist and restaurant critic, I fear he's a little to learn before he makes it as an employment lawyer. For a start, alas it's currently outside the employment tribunal's powers to sentence a respondent to death. #ukemplaw.

An important campaign by the Miscarriage Association to seek to add miscarriage loss to bereavement leave entitlements in the Employment Rights Bill. It's an amendment that makes absolute sense and one I strongly support.
Today, we’re making a stand and launching our Leave for Every Loss campaign, so that women and their partners who experience a pre-24 week pregnancy loss have the legal right to take bereavement leave from work. Find out more about our campaign here:

Should be a really great event and a great panel. Make sure to apply quickly. Look forward to seeing as many #ukemplaw-yers there as possible!.
Hot off the press:@42BR_Barristers annual lecture this year is on 28.11.24, looking at menopause, a topic of increasing interest to employment lawyers over the last couple of years since Rooney v Leicester CC & the WEC's Menopause in the Workplace report.

The case of Institute & Faculty of Actuaries v Davda is about to start in the CA. Link is here: My thread on the EAT decision is here: The appeal may well involve some interesting questions on exact correspondence under s.13.
🧵Institute & Faculty of Actuaries v Davda provides a useful vehicle to consider aspects of direct & indirect discrimination, comparators & the instructing etc & aiding provisions of s.111-112 EqA. #ukemplaw.

I've put a thread about this very interesting case (especially on incorporation of policy terms into contracts & the normative effect of collective bargaining) over at #ukemplaw.

A belated unashamed #humblebrag (for which I'll happily pay) to thank those whose kind hyperbole convinced both Legal 500 & C&P to promote me a band in this year's directories.
