Plus, given the timing and the knowledge that power is ebbing away why not make a stand for what is right and posterity? They can’t even make a good judgement call with a self centred, cynical mindset!.
I know it’s naive, but HS2 and the clear inability of Ministers to stand true to their clearly stated opinions of what is best for the country is depressing. History will compare @Jeremy_Hunt @GregHands @grantshapps & others to the likes of Lords Carrington Howe Heseltine poorly.
