Can you imagine if we didn't have social media, we would have never known what was happening? Think then, how many times in the past history has been re-written the way it is happening right now before our very eyes.
James Baldwin "You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read."
Fiction helps us to understand our feelings and emotions, helps to foster empathy, and helps us to feel less isolate and alone in the world. Read fiction.
I don't believe this whole 20s are the best years of your life, thing. And that the rest of your life gets worst. I fundamentally believe that the best years of my life are ahead of me, as long as, each year, I live more intentionally and authentically than the year before.
A lot of men don't realise that they are going to end up alone, regrettably alone, if they continue to treat people badly. I work with a lot of older men who regret their former young playboy lifestyle, but have damaged lives irreparably.
I highly recommend listening to jazz/instrumentals/lo-fi/music without words and lyrics regularly, just so you can clear your mind, feel the music and be with your thoughts. And clearly, let's be honest, a lot of the music out is not a positive influence...
Suddenly, Black men understand preference when it's not us being preferred. After all those debates denying colourism. I thought preference was just preference loool
Both hands in this picture are men's. We really do this to ourselves. We create the standard of male behaviour that inhibits and oppresses us, and we also reinforce it. So it's up to us to do the work and free ourselves.
I will never vote for Labour again as long as
@KeirStarmerPM
remains leader. I've voted Labour since I turned 18. I cannot in good conscience vote for someone who is willing to let innocent people die and run a party as a dictatorship. What kind of democracy is this? Pathetic.
You lot have been more critical about Labour's manifesto than you have about the actual Tory government the last decade. Given everything that's happened, Windrush, Grenfell, NHS, are you not embarrassed?
You know what love is, me and my missus not been feeling great today. So I bought her something on my way home, and she bought me something on the way home. And we surprised each other with the treat not knowing. I think, I think that's it man.
I would like to see a modernized, traditional, or anachronistic retelling of 'Pride and Prejudice' starring KeKe Palmer as Lizzie Bennett and John Boyega as Mr. Darcy.
Literally everyone: end knife crime by funding youth services and creating provisions and interventions that help young people escape crime and poverty.
Home Office: ok, but hear us out, how about chicken boxes with stories?
🤦🏿♂️
You hate to see it.
We are rolling out our

Sorry but the hell is a "humanitarian pause"? They're asking to pause the bombing, allow aid in, and then un-pause the bombing? Why is it controversial to ask for a ceasefire?!
@QuickestTempa
I did this job and when I tell you, after a shift I would be so tired, id get home, eat and pass out straight away. This guy is making it look like light work
He's a billionaire who decided the best way to fight crime was to dress up and go after petty criminals, rather than redistribute his wealth and create a sustainable jobs, education and training programme, which is proven to reduce crime. He's no hero, he's the corrupt elite.
The World Health Organisation says that depression is the leading cause of disability and the second biggest killer in the world, but this guy wants to make it seem like people who are experiencing depression just want some days off work. Terrible.
'If you're feeling depressed...It doesn't mean that we should assume you can't work.'
PM Rishi Sunak outlines his five key welfare reforms.
'The first is that we should be more ambitious in assessing people's potential for work'

Before you ask someone to reveal their past traumas or mental health issues on the first date, ask yourself if youre providing a safe space for them to do so? What purpose are you asking them? How will you support them if your question triggers certain traumas?
Also, don't ask.
@datJamericanQT
Do you have any past traumas or mental illnesses that you are still recovering from/dealing with??? (This is soooooo important nowadays)
@AchaFlocka
You do realise that this is BWs reaction after years and years of sacrificing themselves for Black men, and getting nothing in return, right? Right? What else do you expect?
I think at some point you come to the realisation that everyone is fundamentally flawed, you just to make a choice of which flaws you are willing to accept.
Btw, the xenophobia and gender based violence (in South Africa) are two sides of the same coin. They are connected, part of the hierarchical structure, that when Black men can't punch upwards at their oppressors, they punch down at those they consider beneath them.
Man, opening a library/bookshop thats also a chill, late night café spot - no alcohol, for community events too, in ends, would be an absolute dream, but you see this London yeah, lol, let me not even set my self up for disappointment
I do not like this photo.
Why must the burden of humanity, of kindness, of compassion, be on the oppressed?
Brother is surrounded by police, and racists, yet if he left the guy bleeding on the floor, he would be seen as the bad one.

To make this France vs Belgium World Cup semifinal more interesting, they should order the losing team to pay back reparations to their former colonies immediately.
Genuinely love being a child of an African parent because no matter what kind of success you have, you can always expect to come home and start washing plates.
Are we ever going talk about how religion is often used a means for men to skip any form of accountability in the name forgiveness and repentance? Its not sin or temptation bro, its YOU.
I'm so excited for 2020. Things are going to unfold in the most beautiful way, for all of us, and I am totally here for it. Just keep going guys. Never give up. I want us all to win.
After years of watching their g/mothers, mothers, and now themselves, go through DV, colourism, sexism, Anti-Blackness, verbal abuse, all sorts, at the hands of Black men, this generation of Black women are telling us to sort ourselves out and you lot are taking it personal?
I've been trying to rest all week. I've realised how much rest requires some form of participation. You can't just do nothing. Your rest has to be intentional, and filled with ease. That may mean moving slower, stretching, listening to calming sounds/music, unplugging etc...
Memo for all Londoners: the weather is beautiful. If you're going to the park, please clean up after yourselves. Finding beer cans and trash in the park is tasteless. We have beautiful green spaces in this city, let's take care of it.
If you ever feel yourself typing "but do you want me to come", or even wondering about whether or not that person wants you there, delete it, get a cup of tea, put your feet up, watch Netflix, stay at home.
When Toni Morrison says racism is a distraction, arguing of the race of a fictional mermaid is an example. Black people, we honestly don't have to explain and justifying everything that relates to us. Let whoever be mad. Laugh and keep it moving.
The demonisation of African spirituality and traditions is on of the most overlooked, yet most impactful and destructive aspects of colonialism. It removed us from ourselves, and our ancestors, in so many ways.
Literally every talk I've done on men/masculinity, every single one, has had a majority women attendance. Even after everything, women still show up for us more than we do. Feminism has done more for us than we do for ourselves.
I think the everyday little arguments that happen on here is actually reflective of a deeper desire to be loved, and have connection, but have no idea how to meaningfully and openly communicate that. Anyway, I hope all the genuine, good hearted people find each other.
Men are the real pick mes who perform masculinity through demonstrating financial capital, material possessions, physical attributes etc in order to be chosen by women, but due to entitlement feel the most embittered and enraged when rejected. In this essay, I will talk about...
Kanye'a album is number 1. You lot are still listening to him. I don't ever wanna hear anyone talking about cancelling again. The man said sides with Trump and said slavery was a choice and you lot still support him. Madness.
And yes, it's not just Black men, because this is also a patriarchal issue in all races/cultures, but not all of them have to deal with the added burdens of white supremacist violence, colourism and Anti-Blackness too. Literally, Black women aren't even asking for much.
This is just a reminder that you are currently living in one of your dreams/prayers. Appreciate where you are and what you have. Give thanks for the time now and the time to come.
To anyone feeling doubtful about their art, creativity or purpose. Just trust the process. Follow your heart. Everything will be okay. The world needs you, but more importantly you need you, so look after yourself and take care of yourself and come back when you're ready x
What I find beautiful about Africa/n and diasporic culture, is that we all pretty much do variations of the same thing but call it something different. We have traces of each other where ever we go, whether it's food, clothes, art, music. Culture really is our connection.
We are overwhelmingly bombarded with toxic representations of relationships in the Black community, and in general, for the sake of drama and entertainment. And then people reproduce that in their own life and then say this is what is normal.
London is home. But it's difficult to love home when you are at odds with it. When it takes more from you than you can give. I mean, how many of us are out here running on empty? Is it not strange to us that we have to leave home to feel restored?
Women/Feminists have been the biggest advocators for male mental health (often bigger than men). The issue of suicide among men was raised by feminists.
We can't blame women for a patriarchal system that men created and continue to uphold. The math is not mathing.
Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating. I tried fasting this year, and it has fundamentally changed me forever. I couldn't finish it all the way, but what I experienced for most of it had a radical impact on me. Have a lovely celebration everyone 💙
Stop acting like you want to live this party/babyboy/baby girl lifestyle. Your back is stiff, your knees are tired, youre in the club in the ams, checking your phone. This aint where the love is. Go home.
So many of your favourite writers/authors died poor. Very poor. The writers who changed our lives. It's actually heart breaking. And yet, it's almost romanticised, as if poverty is a rite of passage for the writer.
