This MPs letter illustrates misunderstanding & fear of ordinary dying. All MPs should be required to attend detailed briefing on ordinary dying, pall care, the real but rare difficult deaths, & assessment of capacity, provided by non-campaigning experts. https://t.co/4VNt6K5SEk

🧵 Whatever your views on assisted dying, one thing I’d hoped we’d all agree on is that the topic is ethically fraught & complex. Not so Matthew Parris. For him, it’s simple. Old & frail people *should* be killed - to save society the cost of looking after them. 1/n

Proportion of health research budget spent on palliative and end of life care: 0.23% Proportion of humans who die: 100%
New HRCS analysis of grant funding data out today: of £2.79billion health-related research in 2022, only 0.23% /£6.5m dealt with #palliative / end of life care, up from 0.21%, still too little. @MarieCurieEOLC still 2nd largest funder after @NIHRresearch

The spread of #ReSPECT in 🏴 for the deteriorating patient across ALL care settings is too important not to include. Ensures patients are at the heart of decision-making as they should be @RealisticMed @LabinjohC @DrGregorSmith @McneillGregor @JASpiller @ResusCouncilUK
The consultation for the Deteriorating patients guideline is now live and will remain open until 6pm on Tuesday 11 April. If you would like to provide feedback, the link to the consultation can be found

It's astonishing how frequently we are finding annual allowance errors and pension record errors that have cost members £,000s Over £2.5m saved to date 🤯 Good job @Jack__Needham & team 👏

#EoL care staff need to talk about restlessness prior to death, including it in preparation. Although it's not common, it's highly distressing if companions don't understand it. Here's an edit of my recent public info post on Facebook, where I don't use medical language. 1/
