Pell’s appeal barrister Bret Walker is explaining why the conviction is “unsafe”. He said the most obvious point is that only the victims and alleged perpetrator were in the sacristy at the time of first alleged offence.

I know how hard it is to do what
@rosemcgowan
did.
I've spent years trying to alert people to what Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, did -- and did NOT do -- at Immacolata in St. Louis.
@ericgarland
St. Louis, and Missouri, are darker than you can imagine.
I'm a Catholic survivor and know that former MO AGs and now U.S. Senators Hawley & Schmitt helped protect the Archdiocese of St. Louis and Catholic Church.
I know because I tried to blow the whistle on ArchStL to them.
@Scout_Finch
As a Catholic survivor, I can't help but be disturbed to see Missouri Senator Josh Hawley in the news.
I know his character.
I tried to help him with his 2018 "investigation" of the Archdiocese of St. Louis he conducted.
His team wasn't interested.
@SusanBReynolds1
Do people understand what it's like for survivors who try to get help?
Speaking up about that might be a good place for lay Catholics to go about the HOW.
Glad to see the video of Cardinal Dolan manhandling the nun is not fading away.
I've known Cardinal Dolan since I was a child and he was just Father Dolan at Immacolata in St. Louis in 1976.
Dolan used to do the same to me.
While he was witnessing and turning a blind eye to...
@jimstewartson
Do you know about Josh Hawley & Eric Schmitt and how they protected the Catholic Church and not the people of Missouri, while Attorneys General?
I know because I'm a Catholic survivor and I tried to help out.
It was a sham.
And worse.

I run a small Baseball web site and I saw evidence of Russian activity on my web site in 2016.
Huge numbers of hits from St. Petersburg and Samara.
I was wondering why, suddenly, people in Russia were SO interested in baseball.
Instead, I was getting probed.
As a survivor of the Catholic sex abuse crisis, I am formally calling for an investigation of the Catholic Church comparable to the current federal investigation of the SBC.
Among other things, it must look into investigations conducted by (former) state AGs like Josh Hawley.
In case you think the Catholic sex abuse crisis is Old News.
"Widow says she was groped by Catholic priest during grief counseling... the Diocese of Knoxville tried to protect the priest by tarring her reputation."
The head of the USCCB is irrelevant.
@usccbp
At the Mass of Reparation for the sex abuse crisis in 2018, I stood vigil out front — survivors weren’t explicitly invited or even mentioned — and was ignored by EVERY SINGLE priest.
As the photo shows.
It was so insane it spurred me to action.
@wartwatch
@GatewayPeople
FYI, Cindy Clemishire's story of abuse may describe a FEDERAL CRIME.
A violation of the Mann Act.
Transporting minors across state lines for immoral or illegal purposes.
Thank you to 600 people who have responded to my research about having sex after rape or abuse. Not many men responded to this, could we all please share to encourage men to anonymously share their views about having sex after male rape and abuse?

"unresolved sexual trauma as a child"
This issue is being HORRIBLY politicized -- abused -- but, at the core, is a real issue.
Childhood sexual trauma being misinterpreted -- Enabled -- as Trans issues.
Happened to me.

I'm glad to talk to whomever about Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who overlapped with my abuser for two years.
And saw NOTHING.
Knew NOTHING.
Uh huh.
My name is Chris O'Leary and I was sexually exploited, abused, and raped by a priest.
Then things got REALLY bad.
I used the small settlement I received from
@archstl
to force them to open their files.
But now I need your help.
It AMAZES me that Catholics can look at this picture of Catholic PRIESTS ignoring -- SHUNNING -- me, a survivor of the Catholic sex abuse crisis, AT THE MASS OF REPARATION for the sex abuse crisis, and be all, "Nope, I have NO idea why people don't want to be Catholic any more."
@MARIAJC1977
@SaraGonzalesTX
@NancyAFrench
I'm confused how this is relevant.
I'm a Catholic survivor discussing how U.S. Senator Josh Hawley refused to help me and us while MO AG.
Oh, and while some will blame The Gays for my abuse, the fact is I was 10 -- maybe 9 -- when my abuse started.
So stop the scapegoating.
When I was a child, I was sexually exploited, abused, and assaulted - RAPED - by a Catholic Priest named Fr. LeRoy Valentine (back row, left).
Abuse witnessed, at least in part, by then Father and now Cardinal Timothy Dolan (back row, third from right).
A LOT of people have left the Catholic Church.
But not everyone.
Not even everyone who knows a survivor.
(A lot of friends and family members remain enthusiastic Catholics, despite knowing me.)
So HOW and WHY do people stay?
Serious question.
@mjs_DC
I'm a Catholic survivor.
As MO AG, Senator Josh Hawley has a record of letting the Catholic Church off of the hook for their appalling crimes.
This goes beyond “soft on crime.”
I’m concerned his record endangers our children.
What’s my motivation?
When I started out doing this, trying to understand what happened to me and to us, I assume that NOBODY knew.
I came to understand that a lot of people knew.
But didn’t warn my parents or me.
I REFUSE to do that to the people who will come after me.

In his confession, Pastor Robert Morris of
@GatewayPeople
Confesses to a CRIMINAL ACT.
It APPEARS there is no Statute Of Limitations for what he did.
If this also happened in another state, that becomes a FEDERAL CRIME.
When is his arraignment?
This article mentions my allegations about how Cardinal Dolan saw and turned a blind eye to my and our sexual abuse by Fr. LeRoy Valentine in St. Louis in the late 1970s, something the press hasn't (been able to?) discuss before.
What prevents statute of limitations reform to allow

survivors to pursue justice? "Money."
Powerful institutions are afraid of having to pay out.
That's why the SBC filed that

I'm a survivor of the Catholic sex abuse crisis in St. Louis and would be glad to speak publicly about Hawley's role in helping the Archdiocese of St. Louis cover up the sexual abuse of me and others.
P.S. I tend to vote R but, obvi, not this year.
Cardinal Burke allowed my abuser, Fr. LeRoy Valentine, to live unsecured and unsupervised, among an unsuspecting public, for some number of years.
That's an enemy.
People are really showing their cards on the whole Cardinal Burke thing.
Look, I've poked fun at his anachronistic outfits/vestments, but I don't think he's an enemy.
I'm a survivor and had psychological problems that required treatment.
I've seen something like 10 psychologists.
It's what happens when you're sexually abused.
In fact, I'd be skeptical about a victim who did NOT have problems.
THAT would be the real red flag.

Actually.
The Catholic Church does NOT help survivors.
Still.

The situation is CERTAINLY worse for Victims and Survivors, which points to the root cause of the problem.

Your wife is awesome.
Please let her -- and the others -- know that, from one abuse survivor to another, I know how it can feel like nobody cares.
But we survivors can and will care about each other.
THANK YOU to everyone who's listening to Sacrificed.

Hopefully, that will then piss you off sufficiently that you will then SPEAK UP.

When you put someone -- ANYONE -- between Jesus and you, you instantly become vulnerable to abuse, deceit, and the whole thing.
Cut. Out. The. Middle. Man.
(Which is part of the root of the problems of the Catholic Church, problems that spread to the SBC and others.)
I know that many who share this image mean well, but like all oversimplifications (looking at you Trinity Diagrams 👀) it’s dangerous. The husband NEVER COMES BETWEEN his wife and Jesus. She has a direct line to God. Jesus is her mediator and Savior. Her husband is not.
Senator Josh Hawley has a record of letting the Catholic Church off of the hook for their appalling crimes, both as MO AG and now Senator.
This goes beyond “soft on crime.”
I’m concerned his a record endangers our children.
I'm a survivor.
I was 9 to 11.
There were no homosexual initiation rituals.
There was...
- Pizza & Board Games in the Rectory
- Watching TV with Fr. V
- Wrestling
- Hair Cuts
- Special Training (about what priests do on their side of the sacristy)
- Real Coke not Vess or RC
I'm seeing both evangelicals and Catholics insist that the exposed Catholic abuse scandal was caused by homosexuality. This is opportunistic, abusive, disgusting and just wrong. Conservative churches are irredeemable and need to fade into irrelevance.

Dear Catholics,
You’re not helping or protecting the Church.
You’re ENABLING.
When you refuse to discuss the plight of survivors.
When you listen uncritically to podcasts that either ignore our plight or, worse, in the case of “Crisis,” give a false sense of progress.
"Pope Benedict XVI failed to stop sex abuse when he was an archbishop"
Better canonize "Saint" Pope Benedict XVI ASAP.
Before people remember his UTTER FAILURE as a priest, a man, and a human being regarding the sex abuse crisis.
@CatholicArena
Beware of Cardinal Dolan, who saw and turned a blind eye to my and our sexual abuse as children, by Fr. LeRoy Valentine, at Immacolata in St. Louis.
My testimony of February 7, 2024, before the Missouri house Judiciary committee, regarding how the Catholic Church -- like too many other abusers and organizations -- uses DIRTY TRICKS to manipulate and gaslight survivors.
Devastating.
Completely accurate.
"The Good Clerics were buddies with the Bad Clerics. They did everything in their power to protect the Bad Clerics—even violating moral, civil, and canon law on their behalf."
Most corrupting thing in life? Friendship.
ALL of the Catholic child protection people are meeting in St. Louis, so I took the opportunity to warn them about Cardinal Dolan.
Tell them my story.
While a FEW people engaged with me, 90% wouldn't TALK to me and 80% wouldn't LOOK at me.
Catholic children REMAIN in DANGER.
At USCCB 2021, Bishop Strickland had a chance to engage with -- hell, just ACKNOWLEDGE -- a group of survivors standing 30 feet from him, prior to a press conference.
Bishop Strickland chose not to talk to us.
Quibble: I don’t know why this fanatic is called a ‘fireband’. He’s a coward. He never spoke outside the safe spaces where his lunatic followers kept him protected.
Please pray for my mom.

Catholic survivor, here.
It's NOT CT that is "killing trust in the church."
Rather, it's the people -- mostly men -- whose misdeeds are "killing trust in the church."
CT is simply REVEALING those misdeeds.
But revealed, they MUST be.
Or else.
Just as Sr. Helen knew -- she told me Mrs. Glarner told her -- and chose not to act.
Sr. Helen was ordered by Monsignor Flavin to keep her mouth shut, and (just) followed that order, "Because the church does so much GOOD."
The banality of evil, indeed.
Working on one of my more difficult paintings and scenes.
Right after, in the basement of the Immacolata rectory.
Right before I ran up the stairs, bailed out of the rectory, and ran home.
What's the cost of the failure of the Catholic Church to help survivors?
And the failure of lay Catholics to force the church to help survivors?
Nate's and others' blood is on Catholics' hands.
Today marks the 3rd anniversary of Nate Lindstrom’s death. Nate was a beloved friend and fellow clergy abuse survivor. Like an alarming number of childhood victims of clergy abuse, Nate took his life. This abuse leaves victims to experience unbearable pain in isolation.

Regarding the video of Cardinal Dolan manhandling the nun, then Father Timothy Dolan used to do the same to me while we were at Immacolata in St. Louis in the late 1970s.

I'm a Catholic survivor and could destroy the credibility of Josh Hawley based on his sham investigation of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
I just need to find a reporter to tell the story to.
(The story also implicates Eric Schmitt.)
Oh, and I'm a (Classical) Conservative.
I’ve been researching clergy sexual abuse for more than 3 years and I can say we’re still just scratching the surface. Scholars report that in general, child abusers commit about 60 offenses for every case that comes to light while the average predator priest abuses 285 times.
Me waiting for trad media to cover the news that Fr. Matthew Stafki, SSPX is facing four felony counts for abusing his 9-yr-old niece.
Heck, waiting for ANY trad media coverage of ANY SSPX abuse and cover-up ...
@wartwatch
As a Catholic survivor, I get some sense of an attempt to distract from the church’s OWN issues.
It’s great that Catholics care SO MUCH about sex trafficking survivors.
But what about survivors of their own Priests?
Matthew 7:5
The Catholic Church offers the promise of your own, Personal Jesus.

And all you have to do is turn a blind eye to the sexual abuse of children and women and men.
And to the suffering of survivors.

P.S. Not LIFE?
I was sexually abused with the knowledge of then Father and now Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
