The MTA’s decision to allow alcohol advertising is a major challenge to the health of New Yorkers, the NYC Health Department’s goal of reducing the prevalence of chronic diseases, and our commitment to health equity.
Advertisements for tobacco, e-cigarettes, alcohol, and high sugar foods are pervasive in neighborhoods with higher rates of chronic diseases. Noncommunicable chronic diseases are among the primary causes of illness and death in New York City. https://t.co/aQjCF2XjEE

New Yorkers deserve to know what they're eating. Yesterday, we passed the Food Safety & Chemical Disclosure Act, which would strengthen transparency in our food system. I thank @AMKelles for her expertise and leadership and my colleagues in the Senate for their support.

@AMKelles This would not have been possible without the dedicated advocacy of organizations locally and nationally, but I specifically want to thank @CSPI, @EWG, and @IPHNetwork for their insight and tireless organizing efforts.
