In the multi-centre study in the UK, 52 keys from 13 keyboards selected from a range of clinical areas were washed, then swab tested, then plated on various agar plates. After selective culture, 72% grew #MRSA, 31% grew #VRE, and 17% grew MDR #Acinetobacter

Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day, especially after coughing or sneezing, or before handling food. If you leave home, make sure you wash your hands as soon as you return. More info: https://t.co/XZFq0x8Ehl

Even if you've had your #COVID19 vaccine, it's important that you continue to follow national restrictions. We don't yet know if the vaccine prevents transmission - you could potentially still carry and transmit the virus to other vulnerable people, even if you are protected.

#COVID19 remains highly contagious, and even people without symptoms can spread it. It is important we keep on protecting each other by washing our hands, wearing face coverings, keeping space and letting fresh air in. Watch how you can protect yourself and others ๐๐ฟ

Excellent COVID read in @jhieditor concluding: "...a 35hr stay in an open cubicle in a general ward did not result in secondary transmission..... basic control measures... surgical masks, hand hygiene etc.," To help with perspective. doi: 10.1016/j.jhin.2020.03.036

#IPC message of the day: When you're really busy, itโs tempting to give your gloves a quick squirt of alcohol gel instead of changing them. Take a few secs to carefully remove & discard them followed by #handhygiene (gel or soap) to maximise safety for all #coronavirus #COVID19
