#OTD in 1919, delegates signed the Treaty of Versailles, officially ending World War I. The Senate failed to ratify the treaty, so a separate document was signed by the U.S. & Germany in 1921. The World War I Memorial recognizes the 4.7 million Americans who served in the war.
