Let's see how well you know your hoodoos! We'll start with this one with a thick dolomitic limestone cap (the grey rocks). Name the viewpoint or trail we're seeing this hoodoo from. We'll reveal the answer tomorrow! #FindYourPark #EncuentraTuParque Photo NPS / Peter Densmore

Today is #MoonDay 🌕 making it a great day to look up into the night sky 🔭 and reflect on all the advances humankind has made in space exploration 🚀. This annual holiday marks the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission and humanity's first landing and walking upon the moon. ⬇️

Wandering here is ever-shifting perspective. Depending on the place, time, and mind in which you observe it, a solitary hoodoo becomes Cleopatra, becomes E.T., becomes Baby Groot, becomes a raised fist. Bryce Canyon exists just as much in imagination & spirit as color & stone.

An expansive sky of cumulus clouds gently rakes the park with light today. At the speed of a time-lapse, one imagines the shallow floor of Lake Claron, 40 million years ago, perhaps dappled in similar light as gentle waves carry the sediment of these Pink Cliffs into deep time.

After a light afternoon snowfall, temps fell below 10 F last night, freezing the morning landscape. Today's high isn't expected to rise above freezing. Stay warm and buy your pass in advance online at #FindYourPark #EncuentraTuParque 📷 NPS/P Densmore

Stop and smell the petrichor! Visitors this morning were greeted by petrichor, the earthy perfume which permeates the air surrounding rain or wet weather events. When was the last time the smell of the earth stopped you in your place? #SmellYourPark #HueleTuParque 📷NPS
