In 1969, the Stonewall Inn was a popular gathering place for New York City's gay community. In the early hours of June 28, police raided the bar and began arresting people. Raids like this were not new, but this time, patrons pushed back and stood up for themselves.

The #Stonewall Uprising was a crucial moment in the gay liberation movement, but there are A LOT of misconceptions out there about what actually happened. As LGBTQ+ rights continue to be challenged, it’s crucial to have accurate historical context – all year long. #CivicSeason
