Antipsychotics are helpful in low doses too for things other than psychosis. They can give autistic people a break from self harm and suicidal thoughts. Which can be life saving too. It’s ableism to deny antipsychotics can be helpful.

Antipsychotics are literally life-saving when patients are acutely manic and psychotic. They stop patients from banging their head, cutting their fingers off, and pulling out their eyes. I’ve seen it all. Those who deny their efficacy just can’t imagine what they have never

The idea that antipsychotics do not provide clinically meaningful benefits in acute treatment of psychosis is so disconnected from scientific & clinical evidence that I consider contorted arguments for it as a proxy for one’s ability to engage in supercharged confirmation bias.

This site is full of people lying about crime in London - point them towards this excellent piece from Fraser that shows the murder rate is at an all time low, with knife crime dropping too.

London murders have fallen to the lowest on record. Knife crime, too, is falling fast. What's going on? My look at what the data does (and doesn't) say.

I call this Jonah's dilemma because he wants love but doesn't want everybody to have love too. It's an ancient story with contemporary applications.

There is often an assumption that shifting care from hospitals to the community automatically saves money. In reality, effective community-based healthcare requires proper investment in staff, infrastructure and support systems to deliver high-quality services.

I am in a fortunate position that I am housed. The home that I am in is a 2 bed flat that could in theory probably house a couple with 1 to 2 children. I also think that there is an issue with some adapted properties being 55+ only.

I have been on the council housing waiting list for a 1-bed property for around a year. I am in the top priority group as I am downsizing (after my Mum died). The issue is that in my council area, there aren't any wheelchair accessible properties available.

PSA screening media coverage is currently very poor. Various charities are not helping but instead adding to the confusion and hype. The Times today carries another high profile individual story of how they were "absolutely" saved by screening with PSA testing.

100% this. Moving care from hospitals to primary care needs to be accompanied with a shift in funding and/or more funding being given to both primary healthcare AND social care.

One of the challenges in trying to move care from hospitals to the community is that this rarely releases funding for use to support primary care services. Invariably, hospitals will use any capacity released from moving services into the community for other work in instead.

Adults can't hit other adults to punish bad behaviour but when it comes to children, astoundingly the law in England and Northern Ireland allows for 'reasonable punishment' - so children are less protected than adults! There is no justification for physically punishing

As a disabled person I am not “insulted” by the tiny number of folk circumventing the system… I’m insulted by disability benefits being less than a liveable amount. By the process being inaccessible and harming vulnerable people. By ableists making ableist assumptions.
