I’ve taken a day off and promised my missus I wouldn’t get into pointless Twitter arguments. Not started well.

What we don’t want is for Carrick to be handed a long term deal based solely on results when the performances have not been good, and he has no CV or body of success to point at.
Very unusual! He’s the interim manager and so far getting results it seems as if some ‘fans’ are hoping we lose so they can say we should of kept Amorim.

I normalized the Y-axis and made the United States lime green for easier visibility.
It's hard to imagine a more dishonest graph than this one by the Guardian claiming China is bringing people out of poverty while the US is not. The US poverty rate has been so low for >30 years that it wouldn't even show up on the China graph if it had been plotted to scale!

Decent analogy
@Hosang I look at it this way. Amorim was a golfer rebuilding his swing which takes time so results declined but you have to be fully committed even when results are bad. Carrick returned to the old swing which initially saw results improve but as time goes by its limitations reappear.

Nobody is holding him to a higher standard. Here’s the brutal facts. Large parts of the fan base and media turned on Amorim from pretty much game 1 or 2 of this season, and then lied about the game model, lied about the performances, and disregarded the personnel issues,
Whether you think Michael Carrick should be permanent manager of Manchester United is a honest debate but what I find truly ludicrous and borderline laughable is the people holding him to a higher standard than they ever held Amorim.

Not just Scholes. You had Owen Hargreaves demanding his mate got the job 30 seconds before kick-off, saying there’d be uproar if he didn’t. Nice journalistic neutrality there 😂
This is the risk you take with rookie managers & why they need TIME. Eg Arteta - taken him several years of pain to get to this point. United’s toxic culture won’t allow this journey tho - see Scholes’ IG post. They need a proven winner from Day 1 who’s got the ego & CV to

When you do analysis with any sense of conviction, you’re often the most disliked person in the room. I don’t care about being liked. I care about being as correct as I can be.
