I screamed OH JUST FUCK OFF at the arrest bleep as it went off. Momentarily forgot I was standing in a busy ward… at visiting time. So there’s that.
How was your day?
A patient stopped me mid consultation to tell me I had a large bogey hanging out my left nostril.
I will therefore be drafting my resignation later today and I ask for privacy at this difficult time. Mortified.
Most F1s these days seem to own multiple pairs of ££ Figs scrubs?! If you’re not wearing a mismatched pair of faded scrubs covered in what you hope is an old iodine stain then honestly you’re doing it wrong sweetie
I honestly think I enjoyed being a doctor more before I started using Twitter. Seeing all the issues facing the profession being repeated all over the country is very demoralising.
For the first time ever, ‘Junior’ Doctors in Northern Ireland go on strike tomorrow in a 24 hour full walkout.
We have had 30% pay erosion since 2008, and the worst pay and conditions anywhere in the UK.
Doctors are leaving.
We need our pay restored to retain doctors in NI.
PACES resit has been rescheduled for when I am on holiday. The Edinburgh College response, to paraphrase: “prove it”, followed by a passive aggressive copy and paste of some small print T&Cs about making personal plans in the months long exam diet window 🙃

Supporting my striking colleagues in NHS England on this night shift in Belfast. Good luck with your industrial action 🦀

We may not retain every fact we’ve ever been taught, but the depth and breadth of medical education forms a subliminal wellspring of knowledge that we draw from daily without even realising. It is a crucial bedrock of our profession.
Weakening that foundation is dangerous.
I’m putting it out there: I don’t believe it takes 5 years to get a medical degree. And I do believe that you can learn on the job if you already have a clinical role. Doctors should be honest with themselves.
Was every minute of your degree spent in learning/working? Was
Junior doctors in NI have had a ~30% real terms pay cut since 2008.
Our basic pay and working conditions are the worst in the UK, leading to staff shortages that are detrimental to patient safety

More unnecessary emotional manipulation from Medical Workforce Managers.
“We would therefore ask all junior and SAS doctors to support good clinical care and to consider working” on their statutory bank holiday day
How insulting. We support good clinical care every day.
Refreshing the My MRCP account waiting for your PACES result to be released is a really special kind of masochism and torture. Truly getting my money’s worth from the £657 exam fee 😘🥹🫠
All the stress and money being spent on postgrad exams and portfolios has me thinking about the locum Consultants at my current place of work who don’t even have their MRCP. Maybe they are the real winners here?!
@mancunianmedic
It’s inclusive. It’s easy for everybody to answer and maybe it’s a preliminary question to allow further enquiry into respondents’ gender identity?
Not sure why it would provoke such ire.
@HackedOffHugh
My mum doesn’t like to buy things online and always gets a paper timetable and buys a ticket in-person. This will really put her off going anywhere
HCA at work was (rightly) annoyed at an overflowing sharps bin, but said somebody “could get HIV which would be the end of their career or their life”.
There is still SO MUCH education needed: people with HIV can expect to live long and healthy lives.

Jerry, I honestly don’t think anything Dr Jha said was “degrading”.
Tagging and attempting to weaponise the GMC on social media against a doctor expressing concerns is unprofessional and quite frankly disgraceful.
Got an email today saying my first IMT2 job in August, (meant to be 6months GI/liver) is being changed to 3 months GI then 3 months rheum at a different site. Few hours later, I was informed my jobs will be 3 months GI and 3 months of renal.
Ok, which is it? 🤷🏽♂️ rheum or renal?

Failing to see any ethical issue. She’s allowed to make choices re her body. She’s allowed to have gone on a holiday. Those arent ethical issues
IMT rota was released late and at least four of us on it have been scrambling to arrange last minute swaps for weddings.
I rotate every 3 months this working year, and still have two weddings to fit in to this carousel of chaos.
@rubynaldrett
The other day I got a verbal “oh yes we are DEFINITELY over 25” from the Tesco cashier. Just let me buy my wine and drink it alone in peace, Brenda.

Between the junior doctor strike ballot result and living across the street from the Devenish, i’m really at the interface of the hot topics affecting Northern Ireland today
In my career so far I haven’t really appreciated the seasonal wax and wane of demand with “winter pressures” because it’s just been perennial pressure. Unrelenting.

This is a vile attack on

containing unnecessary information re her relationship with parents in an effort to smear. Just when you think this rag can’t get any lower: using a medical students choices re her body and health as an attack on their pro strike stance.

Yep! I’ve been told I’m unfit to practise medicine or treat female patients because I support trans rights! It’s wild out here, block block block

Huw Edwards allegedly paid for an adults content, which was spun as being a minor which was proven to be false.
Dan Wootton allegedly blackmailed people threatening to expose their nudes.
It is not the same.
My Trust are offering the same (low) rate of pay for extra locum 9am-5pm shifts as they are for nights. Just a reminder this work is extra-contractual, and our time, skills and the difficult decisions we make (especially OOH) are worth more. Know your worth. Don’t accept less.
@Keir_Starmer
Self referral is honestly one of the worst ideas I’ve heard in a long time. Which health are professionals did you consult before deciding on this policy?
I don’t work in UCLH but BBC news piece on IA showing seniors doctors discussing 15 people handed over to be seen by the ED night team as “more than usual” due to strike: Disingenuous? Misleading?
Maybe meant the med take?
But implying a >15 person queue in ED as JDs fault is …
@mrseleanorohara
This is so disheartening to hear. I have struggled with getting clinics, but have had no issues with getting acute medical take experience.
Departments that don’t provide an IMT with their mandatory basic training needs should have their trainees taken off them.
@SpookyLovejoy
The responsibility, training, knowledge and skills required of doctors deserves to be remunerated appropriately. Current discourse isn’t about comparing salaries of incomparable job roles, it’s that todays doctors are being paid 26% less than their counterparts a few years ago

This pricing in the photograph is for a special VIP package at ~£600 a ticket.
General standing and front standing have been around -£140-190, with lower prices for seated in many UK venues.
Dynamic “surge” pricing has not been used in the UK Eras Tour sale
Most of the medical doctors at my current job are literally counting down the number of shifts left in the place until changeover and freedom.

Tests usually take a while for a reason particularly specialist ones.
It isn’t Amazon Prime, you can’t expect it to be a next day delivery.
Some tests are only done in a few labs in the country, others are very expensive to run so are done in batches, etc
