"what do you have in your boot?"
"my wheelchair"
"get down and open your boot"
"oga, I said I have my wheelchair there!"
This encounter would never leave my mind. Yes, it is personal!

Dear
@gtbank
Abeokuta Branch, when will you make your banking hall wheelchair accessible? I'm presently waiting under the sun to be attended to. Or will you have my ATM CARD delivered to my office? Thank you.
Signed: A honest disabled man.
Hello
@gtbank
@gtbank_help
I was at your Kuto branch in Abeokuta, Ogun state this morning and I was attended to outside the banking hall because the building has no ramp and the mantrap security door is also not accessible. The is quite unfortunate.

The movement has commenced. I urge each and every one of us to make this social responsibility a dream come true. However, to make this effective, every member of the public should take a photograph of the inaccessible public building, post and tag the institution(s).
I had a dream I was driving in a Toyota Matrix this morning and when I woke up I was unhappy to discover it's just a dream. Anyway, let me work smart to make my dream a reality.
In another news, I slayed!

...to go back to the parking lot and they would send someone to come attend to me. I still had to wait for almost another 40 minutes under the sun.
@gtbank
this is quite pathetic to say the least. Do better please. This is the umpteenth time.

This just brought back memories of my first and last time at Silverbird Cinema in Lagos. I had to make use of an empty soda bottle to take a leak. I wrote about it and instead of them to take corrections they reported my post. Mr. Bruce practically ignored the post.
This is what happens when you try to help a wheelchair user and you don't even know how to help. It's better to simply ask how to help.
A young guy once tried to help me but ended up hurting me badly. I fell from my wheelchair hurting my head and hand.
UPDATE: After being kept under the sun for close to 2hrs I just had to do something. I drove straight to their security van and parked behind the vans. This alerted the security guys and they came towards me. I explained my plight and it was a scene. Eventually, I was asked to...

I have typed different words to tweet at you but, I've had to clear them. All I can do is smile and smile again. You have done eternally great. Your paths would always be smooth even when you don't believe. May blessings follow you always.
@The_Chiamaka
Circa 2001, I threw my crutches away because I felt I was levitating after listening to the 'angelic' voices of the choir and other voices talking about faith.
What happened next? I fell with a thunderous hit. I couldn't even calculate the velocity.
Access for disabled people is not the be all and end all.
It is the beginning.
It is the indispensable path to:
Accommodation
Inclusion
Representation
Equity
Leadership
and
Justice.

I paused for a few second to think about the things I can not do. Apparently, I can't really place my mind on the challenges of life. I smile always because I know life is beautiful and I live my life beyond the conspicuous Disability seen.

I decided to make this a public matter since

have no sense of responsibility towards my concerns as a person living with disability in Nigeria. A close ally replied that when confronted, the response was for me to get inline alongside numerous others.@
I was asked a question by a colleague at work. He said: "What gives you joy?"
I replied: "Knowing that I was able to put a smile on someone's face".

There are assumptions that are made about people and what they can and cannot do too often, we judge or limit people by what we think they can't do instead of allowing them to show us what they can. Disability does not mean inability.

I have to share something that just happened to me about the
#EndSARS
. This image popped up on my TV screen and for once in my 35 years of being a disabled I totally forgot I couldn't walk. I wanted to stand and go switch off the wall socket. It is a PSYCHOLOGICAL VICTORY! ✊🏽
When I wrote: "I can work under intense pressure unsupervised" you think I was playing? They kept staring at me while I perform my job smoothly. Truth be told, I chew pressure and discomfort like shawarma. Perks of being a disabled in Nigeria. Not sorry I had to bring that in.
The prayer house should be accessible to all. This is one of the reasons I pray inside my room. Some would even drop a 10 Naira note on your lap. I remember I once returned a 50 Naira note to a man and brought out a thousand bucks. Man was embarrassed. 🙄.

I select all I need myself. Missus always offer to help put them inside the bag. Sometimes I decline politely.
Returning from each trip, I usually breeze in to pick up stuff at the restaurant for both of us.
Breakfast before work: I will just tell Missus to enjoy her sleep.
@Msmenalicious
Why are people this way though? Lolu has been a friend on Facebook, Twitter and IG. He never for once unfollowed and we still communicate till date. So I'm surprised celebrity status changing people to do the unfollowing.

Gotta a lot of beef, so logically, I prey on my foes

, a disability rights activist, on his experience with accessibility issues for disabled people in Nigeria.
5 years ago today I became a father. Today has been so emotional for me. My boy said a prayer for me today. He was so excited even though I can't be present physically today. I made sure to make him and his classmates happy.
Me: ”Hi. Is the restaurant wheelchair-accessible?”
Employee: ”Yes. We’ll get you in.”
Me: ”What does that mean?”
Employee: ”We’ll lift you up the stairs.”
Me: 🙄
A wheelchair lift is accessibility.
Lifting a wheelchair user up the stairs is not.
