Thank you to everyone who has bought #TheWellbeingToolkit by our cofounder @andrew_cowley23 over the last 12 months. As we plan for return, the principled approach towards staff wellbeing could be relevant if not essential. https://t.co/rL4CSTyPs6 https://t.co/6ZosLaNlli

#AdventWellbeing Day 20&21 "Playing the Wellbeing Card" as a response to questions about accountability doesn't sit well. Wellbeing doesn't put accountability on the backburner, but can be used to support and promote it. It's not what you say, it's the way that you say it.

#AdventWellbeing Day 17. The simplest and most effective wellbeing strategy, for staff and students, is to talk and to listen. Not talk at, talk to, but talk with. Listen with attention. Don't interrupt, only seek clarification. Listen with empathy and without judgement.

##AdventWellbeing Day 4. One measure of a school's commitment to wellbeing is how well it looks after the staff who are well as much as those who are ill; particularly at pinch points in the year like these weeks are. More in The Wellbeing Toolkit. @BloomsburyEd

Are you looking after your shock absorbers? Those colleagues who watch your back, take the knocks, look after you without you realising? https://t.co/9rNC3Ifdhl

In recent days on social media I've seen HTs, SLT, teachers and parents frustrated at their workplace. OK it's the last few days, but ultimately it's about the culture in the school. Plenty of food for thought in The Wellbeing Toolkit and The School Mental Health Toolkit.

@mforlearning We should be aware of burnout, especially amongst our #teachers because these are the impacts. Schools have a duty of care to their staff, teachers, TAs & other staff. We cannot afford to lose good and empathetic staff. They're the future, our (grand)children's future. 7/n

Boundaries being set promotes autonomy @mforlearning, wards off burnout, improves workplace relationships, sets expectations and reduces stress. 5/n

We all have boundaries. They need respecting. Some people are good "shock absorbers" for colleagues, but they need boundaries respecting too. 4/n

Everyone possesses a different degree of emotional resilience. Nobody is "fragile", nobody is a "snowflake", nobody is "weak"...they are themselves. 3/n

Good wellbeing is based on what we can control. What we can't control is often in the hands of others, hence the need to be empathetic, understanding, supportive and developing a positive workplace culture. 2/n

A short thread about staff #wellbeing 1/n IME too many decisions about wellbeing are based on assumption, speculation, and a false perspective. We all have things going on in our lives. Some share, some don't. It's their decision. Assuming anything is judgemental and prejudiced.

Interesting article but it's a shame it ignored the great work happening in schools across the UK around defining, prioritising & measuring wellbeing. @well_schools @WhatWorksWB @BeeWellUK @AFNCCF @childrensociety all offer clear definitions and ways to improve WB in schools

We know student wellbeing is important, but how meaningfully is the conversation about wellbeing happening across the sector? And how often is the concept of wellbeing being diluted into a measure of mental health? @DamsonEd explores https://t.co/zTdNkbSgrQ

Key takeaway #2 for book launch tomorrow. Context-one size doesn't fit all Culture-what is your 'why' and how do you communicate it? Compassion-without compassion, your commitment to MHWB counts for nothing Community-the 'strong triangle' of staff-children-parents
