Doubt this is true. Revenue play is a small potatoes. Just let Xbox die and absorb the refugees having you purchase the games on their console. Especially as their console has a significant sale until Black Friday as Xbox overcharges for theirs
Withholding a finished Xbox port doesn’t protect PlayStation’s position; it only forfeits potential revenue and engagement. If Sony is willing to release exclusives on Steam and Epic, which don’t drive hardware sales, then bringing them to Xbox would be a logical lateral step.

Fair enough. A few years ago Sony gave Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4) literally away for free, no strings attached. But from a brand perspective I'm not sure why they would give Xbox another lifeline.
