Found an old video of this sweet Mirror's Edge Catalyst diorama I got with the Collector's Edition in 2016. It's of Faith looking back on her younger self with unrequited tenderness.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst is an incredible game. The franchise has enormous potential.
It's crazy how Bungie laid off Mike Salvatori, who's been with them for over 25 years. This industry is blind. They don't care about retaining top talent and think they're expendable. It's disgusting.
I'm going to reveal something all journalists and fans should know...
It's
Today is a sad day at Bungie as we say goodbye to colleagues who have all made a significant impact on our studio. What these exceptional individuals have contributed to our games and Bungie culture has been enormous and will continue to be a part of Bungie long into the future.
BREAKING HALO NEWS
- Internally, Halo is officially no longer considered flagship. This decision was made somewhere in the past 5 months
- The next Halo game will be the last Halo game if it doesn't meet expectations
- The next Halo game does not have even half the budget that
Halo was never "too slow."
One reason some say classic Halo is "too slow" is because they don't understand that FOV greatly impacts our perception of speed.
Halo 2 & Halo 3 had a FOV of around 70 on Xbox. A low FOV makes us see things as being slower than they actually are.

How is it that 343 couldn't launch Infinite with classic map remakes yet a FAN was able to REMAKE Guardian in a short time? It created huge excitement.
This is 100% proof that poor decisions are made at 343. They all seem disconnected as a team & don't know what's good for Halo.
343 wanted the Halo TV series to bring in more players to Halo Infinite.
They made the best scene in the show use one of the most iconic weapons of the franchise.
But they removed that very iconic weapon from Halo Infinite.
Lmao 🤡
Halo 3 vs Halo Infinite: Strafe. Which do you prefer? Poll below.
H3's strafe has acceleration. It's more natural and fluid. HI's has an instant velocity change. It's unnatural, its movement is also twitchy and janky. Good strafe design is essential for good, fun gameplay.
What's happening to Halo has sent waves throughout the industry. I don't think 343 understands what it actually means to be managing a franchise of this magnitude. They're a studio owned by a multibillion-dollar company yet they're struggling to develop Xbox's flagship IP. Sad.
THIS is what player customization should look like in ALL Halo games. There are so many options. The UI is so simple, elegant, intuitive and modern. It is true customization. I'm so fed up with the armor core rubbish in Infinite. For God's sake stop overcomplicating things.
Here's
@joestaten
talking about 343 wanting to add crafting to Infinite, notice how he calls his line infamous, meaning 343 strongly disliked his views, Joe's words show his experience was unpleasant and he says he had to keep reminding 343 that this is Halo
@XboxP3
,
@mattbooty
Why are most Infinite maps UNSC themed? What happened to Halo's iconic Covenant and Forerunner themed maps? It was Halo's identity.
Not only has this game become esports focused, it's also adhering to boring, realistic military muted color environments.
Halo lost its identity.
Infinite had 4.5 million players on launch, reaching 20 million in the following weeks. Then the numbers began to drop. Why? The game launched with -enough- content to keep players interested for longer. So what was it? It wasn't lack of content. It was lack of Halo's identity.
343 removed the "suicide" line from Halo. It's now called "self-destruction," cos... you know... everyone's a softie who virtue-signals nowadays.
At this point, you may as well remove guns from Halo 🤡
Why not just stay consistent with the previous games? Hearing “suicide”
JEFF STEITZER EXPOSES 343. Jeff says during Halo 4, they micromanaged him and made him change the way he delivered his lines, simply because they wanted to be different from Bungie. They also tried to replace him. 343 wanted to change Halo to leave their "stamp" on it.
Last year I was contacted by a former 343 employee who was there since the start. She was employee 7, before Frank. She had also worked with Bonnie before. She was a face of the franchise; she moderated all the panels, started the community team and helped produce the game...
The layoffs at 343 shouldn't have happened and Halo Infinite should be in a better state. The reason for both of those things is incompetent leadership up top during Halo Infinite development causing massive stress on those working hard to make Halo the best it can be.
Goodbye Xbox 360 Tribute~
Today’s kids won’t understand what it’s like to go home, turn on the 360 and play Halo 3 & Gears with friends. An incredible era that brought so much talent and so much fun. Much love to all the game devs for creating these unforgettable experiences ❤️
343: We don't want playable Elites because Halo Infinite is a Spartan story. It breaks immersion and hurts Halo's serious tone.
Also 343: Releases $10 bunny ears and other immersion-breaking, trash cosmetics that make Spartans look utterly stupid, hurting Halo's serious tone.
I love how
@CertainAffinity
has a giant statue of Master Chief from Halo 2 at their studio when they're not even the stewards of Halo. It just shows how much love
@MaxHoberman
has for the games he created. Dual wielding looks so badass...
I still can't believe 343 removed the OG shotgun from Halo. It's like removing the Warthog, it's always been essential to Halo's identity, and then 343's like "Infinite is a spiritual reboot, a return to the roots." Lmao nah, it's just a gross amalgamation of modern shooters 🤡
Everyone must watch this. Remember Halo? Why do most people believe 343 Industries is one of the worst developers in the industry? This video will give you an idea of what 343 has done to this franchise and its fanbase. Please share it.

@aarongreenberg
EVERY Halo fan must see this. You won't regret it. In just 3 minutes
@ChrisRGun
shows how sprint completely destroys the core design of Halo, and ruins its multiplayer experience.
The idea that Halo must change to compete with other FPS is stupid. If fundamentally changing Halo to compete with other FPS is the main goal, it'll never be a great Halo game. It's a sign the creators lack confidence in their product. Halo should only be competing with itself.
Many have been complaining that Infinite lacks Forerunner maps and that 343 keep making too many boring military maps. And what does 343 do? They change The Pit, the ONE map we wanted to RETAIN its military aesthetic to a Roblox looking red-light district prostitute hangout. 🤡
I love this Xbox 360 dashbaord so much. It's so fast, smooth and intuitive. I recorded this in '08 when I bought the Marble Blast Ultra theme. By the way my friends have MBU multiplayer working on PC, when it's released we can play together! Xbox controller works too.
Without sprint you can shoot, nade, jump and turn 360° all while moving at top speed, allowing for more thoughtful and tactical combat which creates more player engagement and delivers a more fun experience. Sprint is only moving from point A to B and breaks Halo's iconic maps.
My UI concept of what Select Map should've looked like in Halo Infinite. It's not great, but still better than what Infinite has. Using vertical menus allows you to add so much info on the right.
@AKoshelkov
@alyssa_merc
Don't ever trust game journalists, they're not good people.
Create your game the way you want, including keeping those jiggle physics. Don't fall victim to the mob of degenerates who enjoy ruining games and shaming men for appreciating female beauty.
Bungie gave us so much. The ability to track your Halo 3 stats online and share files was such an amazing feature.
Halo has fallen so low and in so many ways. It's so sad to think this would happen to one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time. How unfortunate.
Bungie says sprint FUNDAMENTALLY changes Halo. Thanks Chris 🥰
Any Halo FPS with sprint isn't a true Halo but a spin-off, cos sprint changes how Halo is played, felt & recognized. If ppl like a Halo game with sprint, they like a game that's an offshoot of Halo, not Halo itself.
Halo Infinite's medals feel unrewarding to me... they're too small and don't give you that feeling of euphoria like Halo 3 and Reach did. Does anyone else feel the same way? This is of course purely opinion and there is no right or wrong here.
Wow, mother of all BRAINDEAD takes. 343 has ALWAYS stuck their middle finger at the fans, they've ALWAYS pushed their vision of Halo, changing it into something fans NEVER wanted, causing tens of millions to leave the franchise and stick their middle finger back at them.
The next Halo need not be afraid of changes. Many Halo fans will hate this but I would love it if the new leadership at 343 had enough conviction in their vision to stick a middle finger at everyone & say we will build Halo our way & it will be masterful.
The melancholic, somber music of the OG Halo games gelled flawlessly with the menus. It was sad, gave a sense of loss but also evoked feelings of mystery, wonder, and hope. The entire score was ennobling.
343 has replaced it with silly guitar riffs that clash with Halo’s themes.
Tomorrow I'll be posting what former 343 employees told me. I know people from Microsoft read my posts so those in my circle felt it was important to go into detail. The first half is what I've been told about leadership. The rest is about devs, Infinite and the decline of Halo.
@TheActMan_YT
YOU ALL NEED TO SEE THIS.
People blame 343 for the Halo TV show story but Frank O'Connor told the show creators that adding romance to the show is "taking things too far". They did it anyway lmao.
343 doesn't have complete control over the show. This clip is from Feb 2019..
It took 343 only 3 years to realize that removing fan-favorite features from Halo wasn't a good idea. Absolute geniuses.
Fans getting so excited about this shows just how low the bar has fallen for the once-great Halo franchise. Just tragic.
Fans are made fun of for saying Halo lost its identity and told they're blinded by nostalgia, yet the first thing people do in Halo Infinite is recreate classic Halo maps, I wonder why? What could be the reason so many people want to play classic maps?? 🤔 🤡
This is how 343 treats its fans. They lock Master Chief away from them in all their games but make him playable for audiences of other games in IPs like Fortnite. You can only play as Halo's protagonist or use his Mark VI armor in a game that's not Halo. Yeah. No joke. 🤡
343 has COMPLETELY RUINED the Gravity Hammer.
One of the funnest weapons in Halo's sandbox and a franchise-defining feature no longer works as originally designed by Bungie.
The Gravity Hammer played a big role in Halo's sandbox and was so enjoyable and popular that many game
@TheActMan_YT
343 literally sacrificed its core audience by changing Halo to reach a new one, and it's the reason for the massive drop in its playerbase. But 343 continue to ignore the core audience and cater for this "broader audience".
Happy 19th birthday to one of the greatest games of all time, Halo 2! ❤️
It was on this day 19 years ago that Halo 2 forever changed gaming as we know it.
It was also the day
@PeterMooreLFC
showed off his muscles to the world.
Halo 2's marketing heralded the beginnings of
Why does Microsoft treat Halo badly? THIS IS WHY...
Former MS exec gives insight into MS' attitude toward Halo.
In a pivotal moment in Halo history,
@Ed_Fries
threatened to quit MS if they didn't give Bungie another year to develop Halo 2.
For those who are unaware, Ed Fries
Although most corporate executives would vehemently deny this, they almost always do these things in practice: choose style over substance, prefer fame to talent, seek profit rather than value, and desire short-term gain instead of long-term cultural impact. In other words,
FORMER 343 EMPLOYEE EXPOSES 343. Jesse Snyder, who had worked on Call of Duty, says 343 wanted him to make Halo 4 like CoD. 343 lacks consistent and cohesive vision which former employees also told me. P.S. If anyone at 343 wants to contact me anonymously my email is in bio.
Strafe from every Halo game. Which is best? Poll below.
H3's feels and looks best, you can predict movement because it has a very short acceleration phase that tells you the player is changing direction. Infinite's is the worst, its random leg swap makes it unpredictable.
Remember when we could boot up Halo, play whatever game mode and whenever we wanted? But 343 dictates what we can play, treating us like some violent prison inmate who has to wait his turn for the next piss-poor nonnutritious chow.
"Halo is for everyone."
...say two of the biggest hypocrites at 343 Industries who mock fans for their preferences in Halo, and work at a company that kept a secret "No Bungie people" rule who refused to hire the original devs of Halo to keep them away from it.
haha.
For those
@SophiaNarwitz
Oh cool, they managed to avoid making any changes. How considerate of them!
I just love how we constantly have to tiptoe around the fragile emotions of these enlightened "modern audiences," who are clearly made of tissue paper.
343 has completely killed Halo, and the fact that
@XboxP3
@MattBooty
have allowed 343 to run this franchise for all these years is unforgivable. No true Halo fan would allow Halo, THE CROWN JEWEL OF XBOX, to be treated with such disrespect.
Please give Halo to
@CertainAffinity
.
Halo's original powerups looked & worked so much better than Infinite's; only activated instantly on pickup. It made gameplay more fun. But now powerups are precautionary items used as preemptive tactics. I feel the activation delay also disturbs the flow of player interaction.
Dear Microsoft, please acquire
@CertainAffinity
and give the Halo IP to them.
@MaxHoberman
is the only person who truly understands Halo.
343 Industries has proven they cannot manage your flagship IP and with
@joestaten
now gone, it'll most likely get worse.

NEW: Joe Staten, who joined 343 in 2020 to steer Halo Infinite toward the finish line, is leaving the studio to rejoin Xbox Publishing, Bloomberg has learned
343 Industries completely ignored Max Hoberman's advice and literally went against it. It's unreal.
For a decade, Halo fans have begged 343 not to design their games with a focus on esports since Halo has always been a casual shooter.
This arrogant studio has NEVER listened.
A good example is this incredible optical illusion by Akiyoshi Kitaoka, a Professor of Psychology at Ritsumeikan University, Japan, which reveals removing objects from your peripheral vision tricks the brain into thinking it is moving slower than it is.
Ey you! My homies at Microsoft told me about Halo's future — the move to UE5 is real. Epic's internal engineers are now working at 343 for the next several months and currently building tools to support the future of Halo. I said it first.. I'll give more details tomorrow 🥰
This is
@MaxHoberman
, former multiplayer, online, and UX design lead for Halo 2 & 3 talking about how he wanted to replicate the LAN party experience online for Halo.
"I still think to this day game devs would really benefit from that same thinking. Look at the LAN experience."
Common characteristics of a LAN party: You're playing with people you know and like. There's a wide array of skill and experience. Communication is prevalent and boisterous. There's friendly competition, but the stakes are low. Everyone is having fun.
I've never really told anyone this, I was one of the world's best players at a game called Marble Blast Ultra on the 360. I took part in a tournament and won. It's a game I love but never talk of because it had a sad end and was delisted from Xbox Live...
Halo Infinite is not better than classic Halo, little man.
I swear these fanboys are absolutely delusional. 343 could give them a plate with a literal dog turd and these guys will see it as chocolate ice cream.
Just walk away, little man.
EVERY game dev needs to hear these words. This is the man who revolutionized online gaming. Xbox Live is what it is because of him. He's the father of Halo 2 & Halo 3 multiplayer; designed H1-3's UI, invented social systems, created iconic maps & so much more.
It's actually amazing how 343 manages to ruin every aspect of Halo, lmao. Their versions of the Ghost sound horrible and unpleasant to the ears. It just sounds like generic sci-fi stuff.
The ones by Bungie in Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach all sounded so alien and
This is why I can't stand women anymore.
How dare women express their right to create a women-only Discord channel and Halo tournament with their own rules simply because they want to have fun with other women.
It's disgusting and is incredibly offensive to my friend Emily.
This has proven that 343 has a complete lack of understanding of what Halo is.
@joestaten
could've remained quiet but he was open despite knowing that this would only hurt 343's reputation further. This is why Joe needs to be the one managing this IP. Not Bonnie and not Frank.
Lead singer of Breaking Benjamin calls out 343 Industries over their incompetence LOL
Imagine being such a clown studio and doing such a terrible job with MCC that even famous musicians call you out for it.
If you don't know who
@breakingbenj
are, their song "Blow Me Away" was
What?! Bungie wasn't passionate about Halo? Are you STUPID? Bungie released 5 fully-featured games in 9 years. 343 released 4 games in 9 years, all broken and missing features. Bungie put their blood, sweat and tears into Halo. No one was as passionate as them. Shut your mouth.
Whether you're a Halo fan or not, this is well worth reading. Though about sprint in Halo it provides valuable insight into games in general.
This is a response to the debate on sprint that began after
@MaxHoberman
's tweet. Hopefully this settles the debate once and for all.
Fans: hey 343 can you please bring back classic game modes, Multi-Team, Rocket Race, Headhunter, classic maps, classic weapons, pre-game and post-game lobbies, proximity chat, veto system, party up, file share, working Theater, playable Elites, bullet ricochet and blood?
343:
Halo thrived when it wasn't focused on esports and wasn't live service.
Esports is the reason classic weapons and game modes no longer exist in Halo.
You people force game balance changes on everyone else due to your whining, which makes Halo sterile, killing its fun.
Halo 2
Acting like Halo wouldn't have gone the way of every boomer shooter without a live service model is the biggest cope that only the Halo community is capable of. If you want Halo you want a live service and esports revenue stream, there is no alternative.
The Shroud Screen is stupid. Why create equipment that puts its user at a disadvantage? You can't see outside it so don't know enemy locations, enemies can't see inside it but know you'll be in there so only need to keep shooting inside it. Smoke grenades would've been better.
343 gets roasted by
@AngryJoeShow
for being incompetent and predatory with their microtransactions, trying their best to exploit the fans, and they're still doing it.
