Had this idea some time ago of combining depth pass ( from ) with an equirectangular map. I ended up building a quick prototype with #UnrealEngine5 & #OpenCV, #MachineLearning. The projection math is probably all wrong, but it was a fun exercise

Took a little bit longer than what I was initially planning but I was finally able to output a decent PBR material :D. #rustlang #wgpu #graphicsprogramming

Got an initial environment map support, loading HDR from equirectangular textures and converting to a cubemap. took me a bit of time because the crate I was using has a bug that clamped .hdr values from 0. 1; but loading .exr file works fine

Finally I managed to get some time to work on this again. I'm currently setting up the code to generate the IBL maps, following For now I just offscreen rendering system working, next step is to generate the cube map texture.

I've been playing around with WebGpu for some time now and Inspired by @lisyarus I decided to build my own little PBR renderer with wgpu + rust. Let's see how far I can push this :) . #webgpu
