Today’s #RussiaReport from the Intelligence and Security Committee🕵️ warns that Russia spreads disinformation aimed at creating an atmosphere of distrust. We also heard this and have a number of recommendations to improve our resilience against this threat.

The Government should help platforms verify users’ identities🔍 Platforms should empower users with tools to remove unverified users🙅 from their conversations and more easily identify genuine users.

Today we’re talking about how education can help support active digital citizens. We call for @Ofstednews @educationgovuk @Ofcom and @ICOnews to evaluate existing digital media literacy initiatives to develop a better understanding of what works✅

@Law_Commission @ElectoralCommUK To create extra clarity on how political parties can use personal data, @ICOnews ℹ️ draft code should be put onto a statutory footing 👩‍⚖️

@Law_Commission The @ElectoralCommUK should be given more powers to acquire information from social networks. The maximum fine it can levy should be raised to £500,000 or 4% of a campaign’s total spend💰

@Law_Commission We call for the introduction of imprints👣 on online political material and the creation of comprehensive advertising libraries to bring more transparency🔍 into political advertising.
