I've co-authored a book review, out in @BMJLeader! The time around surgery is a "teachable moment". When 'prevention' works best. Reduce complications, regret, unwarranted operations, avoidable intensive care... We wrote review in a personal capacity - not by @CPOC_News. See link
“The Power of Preparation for Surgery” A Co-Authored Book Review with doctors and patients. By Ms Eleanor Kissin, Mr Lawrence Mudford and Professor Scarlett McNally

I tweet quite a bit - but this one is different and perhaps the most important I’ve ever written I hope it gets shared as much as possible, so new parents don't make the same mistake I nearly made (even as a dad of five, having worked in A&E for 23 years and someone who teaches

Thank you @KirstenBoyle16 for such powerful writing - 'patient safety strategies are ineffective if people won’t admit that they are human and make mistakes'.
Colorectal surgeon @KirstenBoyle16 is my first guest writer. In her blog she explains how over time her emotional response to surgical complications has changed, and how surgeons need to be compassionate towards themselves as well as their patients. https://t.co/dVwzpGJtCa

🔓Humanity has too few years – six – to avert a climate endgame without radically reducing carbon dioxide emissions. In their #FreeForever editorial, White and Montgomery call for radical climate interventions to secure humanity's ‘liveable future’. 🔗 https://t.co/RhWeucbDKx

Do watch this and a great talk on #humanfactorsergonomics which both recognise the importance of staff #retention, #wellbeing in patient care . I sounded negative in a recent post . I have some hope that the #nhs is realising their importance after seeing this .
