Cask strength or Bottled-in-Bond. Brandy, bourbon, rye. Single-cask chaser, price-sanity freak, micro-distillery owner. All around nerd.

Frank August is TRASH EXHIBIT-A: The 'story' section on the barebones website of the Frank August bourbon brand begins with the following quote: "Frank. The state of being open, honest and sincere. A philosophy we have built our brand upon." Where do they source from? Not open?

I read that the sweet spot for whiskey is 8-12 years and for brandy it’s above 10+ years. I reluctantly agree with this perspective.

In Ohio… @jax_buckeye why did you tell it was cold as hell here! Also where can a thirsty man get a drink?

His name is Chad. Chad Gypdt. The “d” is silent, like in D’jango.

This…but whiskey.
One of my favorite bits in "A Guide to the Good Life" by Irvine ( https://t.co/TihpMA5J43) is to avoid becoming a connoisseur. Connoisseurs end up only liking the upper-upper crust of whatever it is that they pursue, and eventually find that hardly anything meets their bar. So

>24 hour sous vide >2 hours in the smoker. >Bourbon Maple butter glaze. >Realizing this is about as close as I’ll get to Wild Turkey.

At the end of the day, I don't think there is much that can compete with clear corn liquor. This one from @KingsCoWhiskey does not drink its proof at all. 80/20 corn/malt. 100% tasty, and as clear as window glass to boot!

I think I might be the odd one out by not liking 95/5 MGP Rye. I think it’s terrible. I’ve yet to find one expression that has made me want to buy a bottle.

Don’t buy this. Go get Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, Barrel Proof Rye. Better still, get @KingsCoWhiskey Empire Rye, or Leopold Bros Maryland Rye, or Sagamore Rye, or @DadsHatRye

No age statement? Just a higher proof, but not cask strength? Not a single barrel? Not seeing the value here. Why would anyone buy this?
We got an exclusive early taste of Buffalo Trace's new $39.99 Full Proof Sazerac Rye Whiskey — and it's awesome. Check out our coverage and review: https://t.co/GXTaafx4tg

Not a fan of NDPs for Bourbon/Rye but am all for them for Cognac/Armagnac/Calvados. Realized it’s because of the work that goes into getting these older barrels. It’s all about buying less and drinking better.
