(slightly edited to fit the word limit, and posted as a way to reference it for future use) Thanks Matteo, you are a master of the pen and ink, for cartoon and words as well. Read it all here

Here, the art doesn’t add much information (it may even distort the science) but hopefully,it gets our audience more excited about science. Sometimes making science more accessible may mean simply making it less pedantic,so people are willing to engage with it in the first place.

On the other hand, for a younger reader who may have had bad experiences with science in the classroom, even a cell diagram may be intimidating or off-putting. In that case, turning a cell into a character may be a useful approach.

People come to science with all kinds of different backgrounds, preconceptions and expectations. For a science-literate reader, who knows how to read common data visualisations, a detailed infographic may be the best way to learn about a new subject.

Cool to see some flies illustrations that I prepared for @crezaval having fun on this Nature paper. Great work by her team!.

Sex or survival—what’s more important? Excited to share our @Nature paper on how flies resolve this conflict. We found a dopamine-based filter that reduces threat perception, helping flies focus on courtship when close to mating.

In these 18min I speak 1.5X my normal speed, I mention my former PI @zmainen and the awesome @Neuro_CF 350 times, talk about Pavlov dogs going for a run and have a "How I met your mother" moment. Big thanks to @RRocheNeuro and the @FENSorg comm. team for the invite and fun chat.

🧠 + 🧠= 🤩.Collaboration enriches our work in beautiful ways. It was an absolute pleasure working together with @joana_gcc to create the six illustrations for the research areas of the @SWC_Neuro .Check out our digest of the process on Medium.

🙏 Odile Crick .One of the best examples of how an image is so powerful when communicating science. How many people have read the papper vs how many people recognize this diagram?.

Currently a big part of the theory I like to cover feeds on the Points of View article series (mostly from @bangwong and @MKrzywinski) I recommend it to any starting scientist. (🙏@RibeiroCarlitos for introducing it) Now this book will bring in some new juicy ideas to my classes.

So the journey begins. This just landed on the 📬.I have been using @ChristiansenJen Space of Possibilities on workshops to show what can be covered by science design and illustration. Everyone gets it super quickly. Looking forward to more wisdom to share to young scientists!
