We don’t respect kids and we don’t understand that what we demand of them is not respect, but reverence. And it’s reverence that is thoroughly unearned.
I actually enjoy greeting kids first. You can see the genuine shock in their face when they realize they’re also deserving of being greeted first. More often than not, they’re more excited to greet you first afterwards cause it no longer feels like a chore expected only of them
