70 passes per minute and a try every 7.5 seconds is some premium grade bullshit.
A stat to think about: - In a 40-min informal game, players made 2,800 passes and scored 315 tries. In their formal 70-min training? - Just 900 passes and 47 tries. Shows how structured drills often REDUCE skill acquisition opportunities compared to simple play.

Dumb coaching advice you picked up over the years? For me: If players are training in shorts you should be wearing shorts, if they arenβt wearing a coat, you shouldnβt be. Hats, gloves etc. Youβre just putting yourself above them if you do & reinforcing hierarchy.

As a thought - is there a risk of over applying maturation research, which tends to be conducted in elite football environments to other sports? Do these groups have a greater homogeneity than other sports?
