Today’s must-read: @AtlanticCouncil's @joshualipsky describes compellingly how @POTUS remade the global trade order — and why our partners let him do it.

The US president has smashed the system, but the speed and scale of the smashing owes to a system that had been growing increasingly brittle for years.

Great to see the work of @AtlanticCouncil's Peter Dickinson (@biz_ukraine_mag) acknowledged!
The best explanation I've seen of why the last thing Putin wants in Ukraine is peace. Very cogent piece.

What I'm following: developments on nuclear energy between Poland and Hungary, especially Hungary with US sanctions lifted on Paks II project.
.@POTUS wants the United States to export more nuclear energy, and we are already making progress. Today Hungary and Poland announced interest in building @gvhnuclear's BWRX-300 advanced reactors to generate reliable power using American nuclear technology.

Our thoughts and prayers are with friends and family of Wesley LePatner — and to her Blackstone colleagues — after her tragic death. She was “the source of so much good and light in the world.”
wsj.com
LePatner was a star in Blackstone’s vast real-estate business, rising to oversee one of its major strategies and one of its biggest funds.

The tariff deals are sort of a way station, more fragile and with less legitimacy than the system they have supplanted.

I remember how, during the 2019 award ceremony, Fred Smith had a FedEx bot "deliver" his award on stage. He called it an “example of innovation and creativity that has marked" FedEx from the start and noted "there is more in the works I assure you." This "more" is his legacy.
The Atlantic Council was honored to present Fred Smith with the Distinguished Business Leadership Award in 2019. In the wake of his passing, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Fred will be remembered not only as a business magnate, industry pioneer, and
