The Fabius Maximus site discusses geopolitics. Like Cassandra, since 2003 we’ve given accurate but grim predictions & reporting & guesses about what comes next.
We are neutral observers, reporting the radical changes in America that most prefer to ignore. See our score on the political spectrum, per this tool of the Duke University Politicization Lab.

RussiaGate is more accurately described as an “operation”, not a “hoax.” This was a large, long duration program to cripple Trump’s presidency. It’s among the most successful covert operations in modern western history, in some ways equivalent to overthrowing small nations’ govts
The BBC is no longer even trying to do science journalism. This is straight propaganda, ignoring vital information needed to understand what's happening.
The new Twitter isn’t that different from the old Twitter - because people are policy. Conservatives are still canceled for obvious humor, while Leftists are held to different standards.
@aaronsibarium
The Left knows how to use power. They’re winning.
“A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery; it cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous.”
— Mao tse-tung.
@TPointUK
Nice demonstration of born-to-lose conservatism. People flowing in through open borders cannot be compelled to accept “British culture and customs” - even if multiculturalism was revoked as Britain’s primary social rule.
@MrAndyNgo
@Portland_State
This is just the beginning. A new faction of the Left has discovered that they are powerful. There will be more and bigger demands. This is common in victorious revolutions.
@Byzness
1/ Conservatives watching the Left win on all fronts for so long, even now without organized resistance, dream of drastic solutions. Such as war, civil war, or an economic crash. Anything but copying the Left by working: organizing, developing doctrine, building alliances, etc.
@JonathanTurley
It’s not a conspiracy theory when the Left makes up pleasing stories with no evidence. It’s only a conspiracy theory when the right does it, even when they have much supporting evidence. The Left’s information dominance shields them from criticism.
A new book by a Japanese climate scientist explains why the science isn't settled about

Increasingly, judges see themselves as priests - above our Democratic instructions, able to impose their beliefs on us. It’s another sign of the Republic’s decay that it’s officials no longer believe in it.

A film about a talented Black girl joining a hip-hop dance troupe only gets 87% from critics? It hit all the buttons. The producers probably asked for recount, expecting an automatic 99%.
@johnslygore
That photo is from only 60 years ago, not even one lifetime. It shows how the Left has radically transformed America. Imagine America in 60 more years. Only the dirt will be the same.
@RyanMaue
The US weather service warned of a disaster in eastern Iowa- 7” of snow. As usual with their warnings, it was downgraded to flurries. After their high percentage of false alarms, I no longer listen. Pitiful.
Another call for men to man up & work harder for women: marry (get divorced), run the rat race, devote themselves to “risk-taking, gallantry, duty.” They don’t mention what’s in it for men. The whippings will continue until morale improves.

They have a common characteristic beyond being ‘teenagers’ - but you were wise not to mention it. Reality is unpleasant, even unmentionable to many Americans. Also, many are not teenagers.
@profgalloway
Probably not. I’ve seen no surveys showing any significant drift to the right of college students. This might be a combination of anecdotal data and wishful thinking.
@Steve_Sailer
At age 20, Ada married William King - the 8th Baron King (later Earl and Viscount): Colonel, diplomat, scientist, and Lord Lieutenant of Surrey. She was primo aristocracy both by birth and marriage. Oppression isn’t what it used to be!
@BonifaceOption
White male professor with this record of academic plagiarism are quickly fired. Members of a protected class are excused from even serious violations. An example of America’s new two-tiered justice.

There are still communists - but only in rich capitalist nations. Everybody else has learned from watching - or experiencing- the failure of all communist nations.
@alternativeted
Don’t mock the tactics of winners. The Left is winning on almost all fronts. Now the bandwagon effect has kicked in. Megacorps, the military, and formerly conservative institutions (eg, churches) join the Left’s broad front. They still face no organized opposition.
There is NO increase in the frequency or intensity of hydrological, meteorological, and climatological natural disasters related to climate change. Such arguments are pure propaganda.

He is a professional propagandist. Facts are just tools to them, to be used as useful. The Left has information dominance, so they can lie at will - so long as climate scientists’ silence supports them. ‘Silence means assent.’ Its the price they pay for lavish funding.

Perhaps men who have relationships with many women understand women better than men who are unsuccessful or disinterested in women.
Good news! There has been no acceleration in melting of the Greenland ice cap since the start of high quality satellite records in 2002. This is news considered not fit to print by the major press. It ruins the narrative.
@US_Stormwatch
@MarkAmesExiled
What is the frequency of Category IV marine heatwaves? I’ve skimmed the literature and can’t find this in terms of percent of total MHWs or number of incidents - for any time period.
@JunkScience
Perhaps he has read the work of the IPCC’s WG1 physical scientists, which gives little basis for belief in a climate emergency. But they too have been cancelled by the press - seldom mentioned in articles about the climate.
@JohnSimpsonNews
We don’t have reliable daily or monthly temperatures for most of the world beyond a century ago. Estimates from thousands of years ago are from proxies, measuring (at best) seasonal averages with large uncertainties. Meaningful comparisons would be, eg Roman & Medieval Europe.
@SkyeRoberts_
Neither is a meaningful indicator of quality. Nobody cares about critics. Why should they? Audience reaction is by definition not an indicator of the larger populations’ opinion.
@wesyang
A young Leftist teacher tells his story. Goes to an inner city grade school. Confronts horrific reality. Learns absolutely nothing. Beliefs unchanged, returns to his privileged life, will vote straight Leftist forever. It’s our America.
@VivekGRamaswamy
Few among the Leftist 20% want to “apologize” for the Founders’ ideals. They hate our society, plan to destabilize it and rebuild on its ruins. Nothing can stop them until we realize this.
@monitoringbias
2/ That graphic is from the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture's chart on "Aspects and Assumptions of Whiteness & White Culture in the United States" - that was removed after a backlash.
Police stoke fear of police by randomly stopping people - then surprise! - passing out coupons. Unless they see something for which they'll ticket or arrest them. New frontiers in illegal search!
@FearDept
America's universities no longer serve the purposes for which they are so lavishly funded, and have become centers of propaganda and indoctrination. Only severe action can restore them to their intended role.
@NancyRPearcey
1/ As quite a few studies show, boys outperform on objective standardized tests - but teachers give girls higher grades for equivalent work. It’s simple sexism, which feminists applaud.
@SophiaKianni
That’s a category error. Shell is a global corporation, a mega-corporation. Pretty much everything on an individual’s scale is tiny by comparison. Sales, profits, number of employees, etc. What is your point?
@ClimateAudit
If the Republican Party was an opposition party in fact, not just in name, they would have long since described RussiaGate as a “lawfare insurrection.” They never used their institutional power to defend Trump - or even investigate RussiaGate.
One of the biggest public policy debates of our time, the
#ClimateEmergency
, has been conducted irrationally, with little to show for it. Let's learn from it and do better.
@eyeslasho
What is the fertility rate (TFR) among mothers on welfare? That is one of the numbers driving evolution of American society? Another such number: median IQ of illegal migrants. Sadly, these are unspeakable facts. “The elephant was powerful, but preferred to be blind.”
@RichardHanania
We are seeing this racial solidarity in juries, with Blacks increasingly unwilling to convict even obviously guilty violent Blacks. They’ve learned what they’ve been told: that America is illegitimate. We will reap what we have sown.
@pauldrossi
@notcapnamerica
There were no Drag Queen Story Hours at libraries. First grade textbooks didn’t advocate for LBQT lifestyles. Teachers didn’t proselytize for it and conceal kids’ transitioning from their parents. What adults did was their own business. Everything changed when they came for kids.
During the mask hysteria, I cited studies about ineffectiveness of masks in surgery. No impact. It was like citing the IPCC to climate activists. American’s delusions are immune to science, although we worship the name.
Look, ALL masking is a bullshit pointless superstition, OK?
Surgeons masking while they cut you open is every bit as mercilessly unsupported by every study, as is community masking in our era of Covid Stupid.
Hygiene masking is just dumb & it doesn't do anything.
@RichardHanania
It’s wonderful how Americans put unpleasant experiences down the memory hole, preventing learning. You say that after the latest (and largest) official study showing that RussiaGate was in effect a criminal conspiracy by the FBI. They knew from the start the claims were bogus.

Amazing life in the West: claims by Leftists that a conservative in the building “makes them feel unsafe.” But guys in young girls’ bathrooms can’t make them feel unsafe. That’s a forbidden feeling. It’s not an allowed lived experience.
@ConceptualJames
This tactic was developed in the late 1960s, and has been the key to the Left’s success. Even now few outside the Left even see it, let alone are willing to make the effort to stop it.

Great point! Gordon Chang’s book was published in 2001 - saying that China was right *now* collapsing. In fact its economic growth was accelerating. In America, being consistently wrong is no barrier to status as an ‘expert.’

Worse yet, much of the advice directed to young men concerns dealing with girls of kinds that disappeared one or two generations ago. This advice is useless or harmful when used by young men with modern women.

Distances between cultures is not measured in miles. France and Algeria are culturally distant. That was one of the reasons for their war of independence. They wanted to have Algerian culture, not France’s.

“Mayor Benoit Payan called on the government to send extra troops to tackle ‘pillaging and violence’ in Marseille, where three police officers were slightly wounded on Saturday.”
2/ Some omitted details - their findings are preliminary, the glacier is over a volcano, and 4% current sea level rise is 4mm (omitting scales is a standard alarmists' trick).

Mostly male. Probably most with non-liberal ideas about treatment of girls. Since our urban schools are often lawless jungles, might be tough times for many girls.
@michelletandler
Ask if they will begin voting differently - or even politically organizing to protect their community. Otherwise they are just pearl-clutching.
Climate propaganda begins a new phase, blaming not just normal weather on climate change - but normal industrial accidents. The Left has been indoctrinated to believe any alarmist nonsense.
This was Philadelphia after an oil refinery exploded this morning.
So... what’s that about how climate change isn’t an existential crisis that will disproportionately impact working class people & burn its way up?
We need a solution on the scale of the crisis:

1/ That’s not so exciting when expressed in a useful metric - temperature. The oceans are large, so even a tiny increase in temperature is a big number in joules. But it’s meaningless to laypeople - except to scare them.
@OwenGregorian
I first wrote about this assumption of RCP8.5 in 2015, and scores of times since then. Only now - with climate alarmists are firmly established in the press and our public policy machinery - does a mass audience get to see the con.

Glaciers have been melting for thousands of years, and rapidly melting since the end of the Little Ice Age in the 19th century. For example, look at this analysis of Glacier National Park by climate scientist
@curryja
.
@curryja
See 20 years of terrifying predictions about the melting North Pole! It's one way scientists make skeptics and why the public doesn't support radical action.
@stillgray
Experts, backed by countless studies, show that is false. While the relevant ratio of males to female aggressors in dmestic violence is difficult to determine because it is very unreported, the ratio is closer to 50-50 than 99-1.
@SteveRattner
@FT
People don’t have such a detailed knowledge of the numbers, only a general feel for the trends. For example, median real wages are unchanged since Q4 2019, and below the levels from Q1 2020 to Q3 2021. Small median changes means they’re down for many.
@matthewstoller
That’s missing the point. Cutting interest rates during a downturn or war is popular. Politicians created the Fed to do the unpopular task of resisting pressure to unnecessarily cut rates, or raise rates during an hot expansion to slow inflation. Still, the Fed often gives in.

@tomselliott
The Senate vote for Janice Rogers Brown to be a judge on the DC court of appeals was 56 for, 43 against. Only one Democrat voted for her. Obama actively opposed the nomination. He believed that she wasn’t the right kind of Black woman for the court.
Another of the giant protests in Europe against their governments’ extreme and irrational programs to “fight” COVID.” Have you seen these widely covered in the US press?

It’s pitiful to see all the comments by people contemptuous of the law, who want the govt instead to just obey their feelings. See this explanation by Sir Thomas More from “A Man for All Seasons” by Robert Bolt (play 1960; film 1966).
@julie_kelly2
Do the government’s deliberate lies in pleadings about the location of VP Pence and VP-almost-elect Harris provide reasonable grounds to challenge the convictions of Jan 6 protestors?
@eyeslasho
@theretardindex
The political extremes of Left and Right has always had some degree of overlap. Hence the ancient description of the political spectrum as a circle. It’s a limitation of a one dimensional representation of a complex situation.
Of course Russia’s leaders are angry. Declassified documents show assurances that there would be no NATO expansion - given to Soviet leaders by Western leaders Baker, Bush, Genscher, Kohl, Gates, Mitterrand, Thatcher, Hurd, Major, and Woerner.
Putin in 2000 was pro-Europe and said Russia was part of western civilization.
What happened to him? US policy played a role, but it also seems like a story of another boomer having his mind melted by the culture war.
@AlexSayde

Downtown San Francisco is not a tech center. “Knowledge workers” is biz-school bingo jargon. SF downtown is mostly retail and white collar workers. Both have been crippled by policy. It’s not true of US cities in general.
@RichardHanania
For 30 years I’ve heard folks explain why the Left was over, or weak, or had no clear goals, etc. Yet it has gained immense power, and continues to do so. Old men rule, but schools produce a majority of women leaders, from high school Valedictorians to PhDs. That’s our future.
