This is the right thing to do — we can’t wait until January to do something. Guns designed to kill large numbers of people very quickly don't belong on our streets. This is not about winning an argument or placing blame. It's about loving our children and taking action.
We won’t let the conversation around gun violence go away. I’m committed to passing legislation that meets the expectations of Minnesotans. Our offer to Republicans addresses mental health, school safety, support for law enforcement, and most importantly, common sense gun laws.

I stand with every student who walked out of school today. But they shouldn’t have had to. We shouldn’t be asking teens to do more for gun reform than Congress. Kids deserve classrooms, not caution drills. They deserve to learn—not protest for their lives.

Congressional Republicans are giving a handout to the gun lobby by eliminating the $200 tax on silencers and easily concealable short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns. We’ve regulated silencers and these guns for 90+ years for a reason: to keep people safe.
