BIG NEWS:

Licensed gun dealers in America must run background checks on their customers.
But not every gun dealer who ought to be licensed is licensed.
Today, my Administration is clarifying when folks must get their license and run background checks, and ensuring that gun show and…

"Mental illness is certainly a problem in this country. But hate is not a mental illness. Neither is murder."
Americans are 25x more likely to die by gun homicide than in peer countries. It's not because of mental illness; it's because of lax gun laws.
My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.
We’re devastated for Uvalde, Texas.

In an exchange with Sen. Feinstein about the Heller case, Amy Coney Barrett indicated that her approach to considering gun cases would rely on historical interpretations of the 2A—not public safety—which is the same extreme, unsuccessful legal framework the NRA has tried to use.

One of the many fatal flaws with the NRA's recommendation that everyone arm themselves at all times to stop gun violence, is that it ignores the reality of what happens to lawful, Black gun owners like Jemel Roberson, who was the definition of a "good guy with a gun."
After a shooting at a bar, security guard Jemel Roberson subdued an alleged assailant. When police arrived, an officer "encountered a subject with a gun" — and shot and killed Roberson, who was in uniform and holding a gun he was licensed to carry.
Voters in Washington state approved a common-sense gun safety ballot measure today! Initiative 1639 will raise the age to purchase semiautomatic rifles to 21 and enhance the background check system for purchasers of semiautomatic rifles.
