“Any efforts to bolster health care services for treatment and prevention cannot fully remedy the fentanyl crisis unless we also eliminate its supply.”

In November 2023, Crapo called on the Administration to ensure services are approved in a timely and efficient manner so states can better meet the needs of children and families.
For the fourth year in a row, the Administration’s trade agenda has provided no serious plan to improve global market access for Americans. Our farmers and businesses will continue to lose out if the Administration doesn't begin working with Congress.
The Administration must do more to pursue effective trade agreements that open foreign markets to American products. Idahoan farmers and business will continue to lose out on economic opportunities to countries like China if we don’t take swift action.
The federal government and private sector must take the opportunity to learn from recent cyberattacks on our critical health infrastructure. We owe it to patients and providers to protect their data and build a stronger, more resilient health care system.
There are already multiple free filing programs offered by the IRS, yet the agency embarked on an expensive, redundant government-run tax preparation project, complete with all attendant inefficiencies and conflicts-of-interest.
Despite claims that $80 billion in new funding would “transform the IRS into a 21st century agency,” the President’s budget request of an additional $104 billion for the agency indicates otherwise.
In stark contrast to Republicans’ achieved objective of lower taxes and competitive rates, President Biden’s vision for American workers and companies is clear: higher tax rates for the majority, to support government subsidies for a few.
The sharp decline in U.S. agricultural exports is avoidable, unacceptable and the direct result of the unambitious trade strategy of this Administration. We must do more to meaningfully expand market access and reduce trade barriers for American farmers.
President Biden is proposing the same menu of tax hikes that not even a Democrat-controlled Congress could support, while promising even more government subsidies to counter the inflation that has run rampant under this Administration.
A competitive tax system is instrumental in manufacturers’ decision of where to invest. Shoring up supply chains and making the TCJA tax reforms permanent would create a stable, healthy environment for manufacturers to invest in American jobs.
AI offers seemingly endless opportunities for every part of American life, including health care. Rather than legislate first and ask questions later, Congress needs to gain a better understanding of AI and carefully consider regulations moving forward.
As Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, I’m focused on delivering consensus-driven policies to help Idahoans from all walks of life and holding the Administration accountable through strong oversight. Read about my work:
Today, the Finance Committee heard from nominees to hold important positions within the Department of Treasury and Social Security Administration. I stressed the need for transparent, timely communication and consensus-driven policies that benefit all Americans.
The recent surge in prescription drug shortages harms the health and finances of Americans in every state. We’re working to identify root causes and develop meaningful policy solutions for patients.
Suddenly retreating from longstanding, bipartisan principles—that are supported by America’s allies—does not help U.S. workers and businesses, it hurts them and empowers America’s adversaries.
I look forward to the swift passage of legislation introduced today by
@WaysandMeansGOP
that reflects a concerted bipartisan, bicameral effort to provide long-overdue double-tax relief for American and Taiwanese workers and businesses.
Senator Ron Wyden and I introduced a bill that will help break down longstanding trade barriers and expand export opportunities for Idaho’s specialty crop producers.
As technological innovations such as artificial intelligence are used more frequently by government agencies, it is important for Congress to gain a better understanding of AI applications within the Finance Committee’s jurisdiction.
