The final sentence of new IPCC report: "The scientific evidence is unequivocal: climate change is a threat to human well-being and the health of the planet. Any further delay in concerted global action will miss a brief and rapidly closing window to secure a liveable future."

The doctors, nurses, and admissions staff were clearly exhausted. They said that this overwhelmed state has been the norm since September. The hospital was full and they were having to use beds and rooms in the ER as overflow. We are close to a breakpoint. PLEASE. Get vaccinated!

This is one of the nation’s preeminent Children’s Hospitals. Some parents were there for 4 hours before giving up and taking their clearly sick and injured kids home without care.

She is fine now. But it was heartbreaking hearing her plead for a drink, knowing that if I gave her one, she might vomit again in a busy ER waiting room and get others sick. Other kids were there with likely broken bones, waiting hrs to be seen.

Last week, my 5 yr old got sick (not COVID). Vomiting all day, couldn’t keep anything down. She went ~36 hrs without water. We sat in the ER waiting room for 4 hrs until 2am, desperately thirsty, before we could even see an overwhelmed doc. https://t.co/3WYREKIlr4 via @mprnews

Rusty patched bumble bee swag alert. Props to @_JohnMola for making this happen. He tells me proceeds from this will benefit @xercessociety and our efforts to protect all invertebrates! Win/win. Buy a fris(*), save a bumble(*). (*)=bee

Huge thanks to @_JohnMola and @monotomidae for the inspiration behind this stamp. The Rusty Patched Bumble Bee is an endangered species living in North America and can even be found on disc golf courses in parts of the U.S.

That sound you hear is the collective exhaling of millions of parents after a year and a half of anxiety, disrupted school, lost work, & social isolation. I’m one of those parents breathing more deeply now, after our two kids could get their first shot last night. Thanks science!

Happening now! Folks in the Upper Midwest and across the Great Lakes: look out for the endangered rusty patched bumble bee! Report sightings to @bumblebeewatch. Left photo: worker being released alive after sample collected for genetics (under permit). Right: a new Queen (gyne)!!

I grew up in the shadow of Mt Ashland, and solidified my love of butterflies on those same slopes where Franklin’s bumble bee was last seen. I wish I had looked harder for it. I sincerely hope Franklin’s is still somewhere out in those high mountains, buzzing about in peace.

The last sighting of a single worker Franklin's bumblebee occurred in 2006 at Mt. Ashland in OR. The rare & endemic nature of this bumblebee adds to the species' fragility, making its decline even more alarming. More: https://t.co/nDRqkN2i4B #PollinatorWeek 📷courtesy of USDA

The Dakota skipper reintroductions in MN would not be possible in its current form without support of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate! The tribe’s managed lands sustain some of the healthiest populations in the world & form the core of the ex situ population at the @mnzoo. Thank you!

Amazing to watch endangered Dakota Skippers reintroduced at the Hole in the Mountain WMA in SW MN. DNR appreciates partnerships w/@mnzoo, Sioux Falls Zoo & a local farmer whose cattle graze the prairie as part of adaptive mgmt research. Photo cred @danruiter

Let’s thank our pollinators! Did you have berries in your cereal? Can you imagine fall without pumpkins or apples? Bees, butterflies, beetles, and other pollinators are central to agriculture, sustain ecosystems, and light up our gardens. https://t.co/XT8BBVh1DG #MNPollinatorWeek

This foundational Dakota skipper propagation and reintroduction program also wouldn’t be possible without funding from @mnenrtf and additional permits/support from @USFWS. The @Nature_MN remains a massive partner, managing the previous reintro site & supporting science. Go team!

A special moment, particularly during #PollinatorWeek, to be reintroducing globally Endangered Dakota skippers back to two new SW Minnesota sites: Hole-in-the-Mountain and Altona WMAs. It’s a tough year with bad drought, but some released females are mated. So 🤞! Fly my babies!
