Really enjoyable and often moving afternoon at Pentonville prison - Music in the Ville … me on the bagpipes, two opera singers, a cellist, violinist, guitarist and prisoners signing along. Music is such a healer and some of the prisoners have real musical talent 1/2

🧵 Published today, @HMIPrionsnews' report on Risley serves as a perfect example of the chaos that exists within our over-burdened and under-resourced prison system. Risley is a resettlement prison in Cheshire aimed at preparing people for release, but it is failing to do so.

Depressing that so many of the same points about the failure of our prisons have been being made by many for so long. My grandparents wrote this nearly 100 years ago, I hate to think what they would think if they knew today’s situation @PRTuk @TheHowardLeague
