Ever wonder why nature uses coenzymes and what role they might have played before enzymes had emerged? Check out our mini-review @ScienceAdvances summarizing our recent work on the nonenzymatic reactivity of PL(P), NADH and ATP. @QDherbassy @RJ_Mayer

Metabolic models for the origin of life predict NADH should reduce keto acids without enzymes. We found such reactivity is turned on by Fe(III) or Al(III) ions (again) and it's stereoselective! Full mechanistic study. Out in @Chem_CP. Congrats @RJ_Mayer! https://t.co/a6t89GHUkj

My group is looking for a postdoc, with a lot of flexibility on topic and starting date. Skills in molecular chemistry would fit, but this person might reinforce our expertise in vesicles or strong coupling: such backgrounds may also fit. For info: https://t.co/Ti4pan8oef

Last Friday was the end of a beautiful chapter of my life. After 3.5 years of science & fun, I finally completed my PhD! Thanks @gregoiredanger @JessenLab & @ClaudiaBonfio for evaluating my work. Thanks @MoranLabChem, @djpleboeuf & all group members who made the lab a 2nd home 🎉

To reconstruct the origin of metabolism, conditions where multiple metabolic subnetworks can work together must be identified. Here, hydrogen gas drives nonenzymatic analogs of amino acid biosynthesis and the reverse Krebs cycle together in one pot without human intervention.
Online now: A prebiotic Krebs cycle analog generates amino acids with H2 and NH3 over nickel https://t.co/UcPHoGflLo

2024 starts well! Check out our new article in @JOC_OL : a not so little parenthesis on catalysis at the origin of life to investigate a new aza variant of the Piancatelli rearrangement using sulfoximines as nucleophiles. Thanks Milena, @MoranLabChem & especially @djpleboeuf
#ECR
Great way to start the year, showing that the aza-Piancatelli does not have to be limited to anilines but can be extended to other amino partners like sulfoximines! @JOC_OL Fantastic work by @EmilieWerner7 and Milena on a not so easy topic! @MoranLabChem
