Someone needs to explain to Phillipson that winning 'the war' is more important than a few scrappy battles. Damn, check out her ego. Still, pride comes before a fall. And boy, does she have a long way to fall. She's nasty.
Bridget Phillipson this morning making clear, again, that for her the attacks on our independent schools were a political point prover, an ideological war. She doesn’t care about the damage caused to children and families. Disgraceful. “I’ve taken on powerful vested interests

This is so very true. So, we can now add hypocrite to her list of qualifications too.
The only credentials she is able to list as making her suitable for the role are: • She's a woman • She's northern • She's working-class Bridget likes to insist that background shouldn't matter but is more than content with using identity politics for her own personal gain.

Sorry, Bridget Phillipson – here’s why you’re not going to be Labour’s deputy leader…

The education secretary is one of the more popular cabinet ministers – but, says John Rentoul, no frontbencher has a hope of winning a contest that’s decided by party members

Never forget that this woman has ripped up two decades of cross party consensus on education that has transformed English schools into the best in the west. She is sacrificing your child’s future on the altar of her ambition. And this latest move proves it.

@bphillipsonMP @UKLabour Uh, yeah. I had to go to school on Oxford's Cowley Road. So what? How the hell does that qualify you to run the country? Tell me how you're going to promote growth, to bring down the debt (£40k for every person inc babies in the country). How are you going to protect our native

@bphillipsonMP @UKLabour Funnily enough my neighbour is a 'Working Class' woman too. She works in a care home, earns the minimum wage, lives month to month, worries about rising food prices and winter energy bills You earn over £150k a year and receive tens of thousands in gratuities and donations

@bphillipsonMP @UKLabour Bridget Phillipson pitching herself as Labour’s “working class voice” is the kind of parody you couldn’t make up. She bangs on about being from a council street, but the second she hit Westminster, she swapped the accent for committee speak and the graft for party line waffle.

Wow. This aged badly. A Labour councillor who doesn't believe in free speech! Nor it seems do they keep up with the news (despite being an ex-political journalist). Sussex University received a £585k in March 2025.
4. Fining universities that don’t promote free speech 🗑️ Sunak’s Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act required universities and student unions to promote free speech or face possible fines. Technically, the law hasn’t been repealed, but Labour says it won’t enforce it.

Nepotism is fine if you're a Labour MP, who went to Oxford, worked for your mates thinktank & hasn't had a real job. Just so long as you didn't go to private school or send your kids to a private school... thats Labour stink of privilege & I can't believe the country fell for it
This Labour government is absolutely riddled with spouses and siblings, the weirdest case probably being Maria and Angela Eagle, literally twins. I can only find another example of this, James and Richard Grenville both serving as the MP for Buckingham (1774-1780)

Astonishing that in so wide a reshuffle, @bphillipsonMP is remaining as Education Secretary, given how she is deliberately destroying the bipartisan reforms which have been so important over the past three decades. She is by quite a margin the worst minister in the Cabinet - and

Worrying long term hidden fiscal drag... The family income threshold at which English students maintenance loans start to get reduced is just £25,000/yr. It has been this level since the 2008/2009 academic year. We have had 64% (CPI) inflation since then. So it's been

Harriet Harman: “She [Rayner] is not a lawyer. It’s not her job to get the law right or wrong.” Er… I’m not a lawyer either and neither is most of the population, but I’m fairly sure we all have to stay within the law anyway, Harriet (who is a qualified solicitor).

Lets just move on now. No gloating from Tories/Reform/Corbyn. She messed up. End of. I think this has to have been a pincer move from within the Labour party/ government itself.
BREAKING: Like @SamCoatesSky hearing a decision has been made on Angela Rayner's future. Sounds like an announcement is imminent Two sources suggest she's gone but it's not formally confirmed yet. Radio silence from No 10....
