It is with much sadness that we share the news that our friend and colleague,

has passed away. Drew was a fierce advocate for social justice, a passionate member of the Ed Trust family & always on the side of our most underserved students.

“Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison is about an unnamed Black man who tells you his life story in a racially divided society that refuses to see him as human. The award-wining book was deemed inappropriate & lacking "literary value" by a NC school district.

Over 1 in 5 American high schools (21%) & just under a million high school students (850,000) do not have access to any school counselor. That student population is larger than the entire population of 83 of the 100 largest U.S. cities.
And even with his illness, he pushed through to the end on behalf of students with his last research project, Segregation Forever. Now his legacy lives on forever. Drew dedicated his life to fighting for equity and justice for college students. We will continue to do the same.
