The next time you think you have an unmotivated, uninterested trainee, consider maybe that the trainee might have an unmotivated, uninteresting trainer. Be like the teacher in your life who inspired you, not the one that sucked the enjoyment out of their subject.

When I became a mentor, I did so on the basis that I never wanted any student to feel the way some made me feel as a student. Don’t address them as ‘the student’ take time to learn their name, their aspirations. Let them take control at times. Teach them but also learn from them.
