Decanulated a patient last week (removed a tracheostomy breathing tube for my non medical friends)...first words out of his mouth were "thank you for looking after me". I keep thinking about it. It hits hard how happy that makes me feel.

I have never worked with more dedicated nurses, Medics and AHPs. Golly, it is trying times...but we dust ourselves off and crack on. Proud ITU Charge Nurse.

Recuperating from a nasty illness. Off sick from work but went out to say farewell to a departing colleague last night. Recuperation post illness does not mean hiding in your house. Be seen, see your friends. Mental recovery is just as important as physical recovery.
