I would love to talk about transparency to your users
@CoinMarketCap
Can we get a label next to projects that paid your 5K/50K listing costs?
It would be nice to see how much the company collected from projects scamming or rugging the public.
@ergo_platform
@CoinMarketCap
We want to be as transparent as we could possibly be to our users. Your attempt to erase the historical price data is not acceptable.
Cryptography creates trust by first assuming its absence.
Unfortunately many in the industry are feeling the pain created by misplaced trust.
Sad but at least we are at least moving back towards first principles.
@Ergo_Platform
People complain
@ErgoFoundation
isn't active enough.
Yet with minimal treasury burn (largest expense by far to date is listings), we have delivered a unique L1, first to market in most extended utxo frameworks, and we roll with a core team smaller than most dapps.
Currently, Ergo is not listed on US-based exchanges.
The cost of listing, combined with the financial risk of regulatory uncertainty is questionable.
As things evolve, there will be room for fair launched PoW, no pre-mine, no presale, bootstrapped from genesis.
@Ergo_Platform
Rosenbridge is running a private test net for BTC.
I guess we could call Ergo a Zk powered smart layer for BTC.
Ergo has always been Zk powered, it has sigma protocols built into the core.
In the future we might see a SHA256 side chain directly competing for hash rate too.
Other chains do not have Ergo’s access to discrete log-based zero-knowledge proofs, NiPoPoWs, the eUTXO model + multi-stage protocols. This well-researched combination provides arguably the most robust base for contractual money in the space.
@chepurnoy
I think this situation with
@CoinMarketCap
highlights a few attack vectors that are used against retail and show a lack of common standards vs. pay-to-play schemes.
Paid access
Paid advertising
Wash trading
Retail Rekt
Sometimes it is embarrassing to work in this industry.
When applying for a development grant from the Ergo Foundation please note being open source is a requirement.
We are not going to spend community funds to pay for private development.
The expectation is community funding = community code.
@ergoplatformorg
Ergo, being an indie blockchain for as long as possible is a great thing.
Less suits and bootlickers... Just real people building cool and disruptive things.
The boxes and contracts for
@RosenBridge_erg
will be deployed today.
The watcher/guard apps will be released after that.
Then, onto the watcher setup.
@ergo_platform
The Nipopow Era is coming to Ergo soon.
The simplest way to understand this is full node security, direct p2p layer communication with less computational resources needed.
Decentralization is all about the local host. Lowering this lift/cost of this barrier is a huge win.
Babel fees are already live on ergo. That is the same as paying tx fees with an ERC-20.
The difference being native assets in
@Ergo_Platform
's utxo model have simpler assumptions.
Interesting use there for stablecoins, paying fees with a stablecoin.
The Ergo community is pretty diverse.
Developers who push for open source collaboration.
Privacy advocates call for clear assumptions and tooling.
Defi enthusiasts who want to see utility and use.
Users who call for a simplified user experience.
As a community, we build.
Diff is down to 16.61PH.
My respect to all the miners that helped get through the last epoch.
Let's see what is next. Please be proactive.
@ergoplatformorg
@RushCMC
Here are the facts. Public and transparent. Plus there is a chain to read as well, which was the initial issue, CMC misreporting chain data.
Can you give the facts to users about the projects that are paying you for listings?
People have asked why I like Ergo.
It's interesting to try to make a financial system with clear trust assumptions in people, protocols, and cryptography.
Privacy available for users, transparency for protocols.
PoW with general computing parts is neat, too.
@Ergo_Platform
My favorite things about Ergo 🤔
1. First principles based approach.
2. GPU Mineable PoW
3. The Open Source Development Community.
It's the right balance of principles, garage miners, and the geeks. 🤍
@ergoplatformorg
#DiscoverErgo
My favorite thing about Bitcoin is the research, debate, and improvement ideas.
My favorite thing about Ergo is seeing good ideas born from that research come to life.
For node 6.0, scaling, and sidechains, a lot of groundwork is already in place.
@Ergo_Platform
I've been getting continuously spammed by Kaspa bots with 2-3 followers who are trying to make silly accusations... without pointing to chain history.
It's actually a bit funny to me since ledger history on ergo is auditable.
In the end, that is why auditability matters. KYA
People ask me if I get burnt out.
No, because when I see open source frameworks I consider myself a part of the team.
It's about trying to build something bigger than myself and trying to help deliver that to everyone in an unstoppable way.
That's the goal.
@ergoplatformorg
Fed tapering hits equities which drags crypto with it + corona variant news + regulatory uncertainty.
Bearish action sure, but the team
@ergoplatformorg
are Russian... and I am from the mountains.
Our development goals and focus are long term, bearish action changes nothing.
Gifted the account from Charles H... good friend to have.
He built it from the ground up... (PoW)
His keys, his custody.
The handle was transfered to the ETC community. We decided to preserve the history. We can delete it if the ETC community wants.
@ergoplatformorg
I think two of the most important aspects in Ergo’s development is user protection (transparent assumptions) (additional hardware wallet support) and additional privacy tooling.
Ledger development/integration so far has been embarrassingly slow. I’m bothering them every day.
Moving into 2023, disruptive potential being built on
@Ergo_Platform
Shift away from central liquidity gatekeepers with Rosen.
Remove the need for stratum mining with SNISPS.
Expand DeFi in eutxo with simple/clear assumptions.
Simplify and expand privacy with Sigmajoin.
Everything based in crypto should be built on a foundation of proof instead of trust.
That's kind of the whole point right? 🤔
Remove trusted intermediaries...
This is why the
@ErgoFoundation
will always encourage open source development.
@ergoplatformorg
People are asking about Terminus Wallet.
@ZengateGlobal
was in a position to deliver an appstore support faster than the EF.
@MrStahlfelge
has done excellent work with this build, mosaik, ergopay etc.
It's open source, same build, new name.
@ergoplatformorg
Well it’s almost time to wrap up this year. Might as well put this out there.
2023 goal
@RosenBridge_erg
(soon tm)
Improve exchange/cross chain assumptions.
2024 goal
@LithosProtocol
Improve mining pool assumptions.
@ergo_platform
We are still in the Rosen lite era.
Focused on a lot of internal optimization.
In parallel ongoing efforts to bring in quality collateral with a BTC bridge and opening market access to ETH.
rsERG as a test is showing a simple function, liquidity makes markets.
The most significant advantage of Bitcoin is it didn't have to deal with the services and external industry it created.
A lot of grifters and wanna-be barons around.
It started with people who wanted to use technology to change the world. That is the real value.
@ergo_platform
Hey
@coinmarketcap
You’ve now made a statement to other projects who want accurate data on
#CMC
: “Don’t question us, or we will make it worse”. Your updated note on our chart is a clear sign you prefer “don’t you dare correct us” rather than have data that is represented with
The Ergo Community had a great time at Rare Bloom.
Special thanks to
@IOHK_Charles
for taking a minute to come hang out with us at booth 420.
@Ergo_Platform
If something in crypto isn't open source, I won't use it, can't recommend it, pay much attention to it, or even care.
Manage your risks, know your assumptions, and have fun.
@Ergo_Platform
Bitcoin logic is finalized, and its integration is starting.
The integration requires modifications and updates to the current infrastructure and core modules, but work in progress.
@RosenBridge_erg
@ergo_platform
Rough time for miners.
Profitability will most likely consolidate for a period.
Manage your risks and costs.
Our goal is to keep building regardless of the market trend. Hopefully, those that drop off can hop back on in the future and support us.
@ergoplatformorg
Exciting dev update. Tokenized bonds in eutxo is a big idea for defi.
One wish of mine has been to see revenue bonds built on top of a fee model for dapps/devs/teams vs. a token.
@CheeseEnth
@BullishDumpling
@CoinMarketCap
We don't charge for this, but a new guy on our side has sent out an invoice by mistake. That's our fault and we made it clear in the email. Feel free to read the emails between CMC and ERG to know more. It's not about fees, it's that we can't remove the historical price data.
Once Rosen is live and there is sufficient liquidity for external pairs, we will see PoS coins become mineable via
@GuapSwapErgo
Hopefully, it evolves as Rosen grows to this idea of portfolio mining.
Pools are already offering mining swaps in a black box with unknown fees.
Thank you all for the initial support with
@RosenBridge_erg
Our first few goals with the Rosenlite era is optimization, expanded support, and community tooling.
We will focus on this and the next stage of mainnet growth will be adding
@hoskytoken
and
@CometMooning
.
Excited for the Ergoversary.
The Ergo ecosystem has developed, evolved, and grown a lot in the last year.
It's good to periodically take a moment, sit back, take inventory, and appreciate everyone's work.
Then... full steam ahead
@Ergo_Platform
Congratulations to ETH on Shanghai.
Sadly, the overall market reward for gpu miners is still a fraction of what it was pre merge.
Looking at major exchanges like... Quit listing complete VC nonsense. Support PoW.
@Ergo_Platform
Got a DM asking if there would be a bitmain asic on Ergo.
They have asked the Foundation if we would ever change the algorithm, the answer was... we don't have the power to even do that.
Miners have governance power.
So that's that.
@Ergo_Platform
In my experience most exchanges don't understand or care about tech... but they do care about user acquisition and liquidity.
It is why we see dogcoins and other nonsense listed.
Miners feel free to bother your favorite exchanges as we work on the backend.
@ergoplatformorg
@ericturnr
@APompliano
So let me get this straight, a community artist updates/expands a graph to give accurate comparative analysis for an ecosystem, and that is "ripping you off"?
What did you patent pie charts?
So much for supporting composability and open source frameworks. What a joke.
The majority don't care about privacy, decentralization, or trust and risk assumptions until it is too late.
Unfortunately that is when they find out why these are so critical and should have been a core focal point from the start.
Crypto doesn't need a hero. That's kind of the point of this whole decentralization thing...
What crypto needs is transparency, because time and time again those that are the most attached to being the hero or savior are actually using that as a vector of attack.
Rosen bridge needs to add privacy coins on the roadmap.
Central exchanges are delisting some of my favorite projects. Privacy is one of the most important aspects of decentralized technologies...
Nice to support things in theory, but better in practice.
@RosenBridge_erg
If you watch on chain tomorrow you might just see the two dog tokens that helped us with testnet being set up for
@RosenBridge_erg
support.
Preparing for another stress test.
@hoskytoken
@CometMooning
Satoshi used the term P2P.
P2P is clear and concrete.
Decentralization is some abstraction of collective localization.
That term is quite misused and misunderstood.
Run a node. Be a Peer. P2P.
@SatergoWallet
@ergo_platform
A lot of people ask what the SEC thinks of ERG. Probably nothing. Smaller cap, and not in US markets currently.
The listing costs are very high, with maintenance overhead, and the US jurisdiction is a net liability until there is meaningful guidance. Just basic risk management.
Watcher app is currently being built by github actions and will be released once completed.
@RosenBridge_erg
Next step tutorials.
5 community bounties for the best end to end tutorial setup video.
1. Mac
2. Windows
3. Linux
4. Rasp/orange pi
5. Mobile 🤔
50 ERG each.
Sigma protocols can be used for proving and verifying complex propositions, such as combining multiple public keys with logical operations like AND, OR, and THRESHOLD.
@Ergo_Platform
To allow our users to make uninformed decisions.
CMC will continue refusing to disclose who is just paying for instant access and advertising.
Users do not get to know what is just sponsored content or how that is used to manipulate the public market sentiment.
The best part of gpu pow mining is the ability to deliver profit incentive globally without direct exposure to holding crypto.
Even small/modest returns over the input costs can go a long way in many areas in our world. It's not "lambo" gains but help put food on the table.
Many parameters on Ergo can be changed on-the-fly via miners voting, such as computational cost limit per block, block size limit, storage fee factor, block version, etc.
The recent fun with BTC shows some forethought in this design.
@Ergo_Platform
Excited to roll out this upgrade, demonstrate stability, scale supported assets, and continue the march towards new chain integrations.
BTC and ETH integrations are going pretty well.
Thanks for sticking with us through the Rosen lite era. 🫡
💥 We're getting started to update Rosen to expand the Watcher sets.
Here's what to expect in the next few days! 👇
▪️New config tokens and contracts will be created and deployed (new tokens are internal system tokens and are not something you should care about).
▪️Guards will
Yes, this is what you get for giving the public transparency with pay-to-win schemes.
Sometimes people love to claim they are the shepherd... somehow we seem to forget that is who eats the sheep in the end.
#CoinMarketCap
has listed thousands of scam coins and I have rarely seen a label to serve as a warning to users even with obvious red flags. Coins that ruined people. A small grassroots, fairly distributed coin
#Ergo
called them out for their pay to win scam and we get this?
2023 is seeing a lot of lending development on
@Ergo_Platform
.
End to end open source. 🤍
Collateralized pool based lending with
@duckpools_io
.
P2P collateralized lending with SigmaFinance.
Uncollateralized (perhaps charitable perhaps not) lending with Exle
@ErgoLend
.
Storage rent went live on
@Ergo_Platform
this month.
It was a known assumption from before the genesis block.
State management is important, creates a nice long term security model and gives the miners a little something extra to work for.
The ETH dev community did amazing work advocating open source frameworks and lowering the barrier of developer adoption.
That is something I respect.
Good luck to ETH with the merge. 👍
@ergoplatformorg
Ergo and Cardano share similar smart contract models. The assumptions and design patterns there are similar.
In terms of cryptographic assumptions and consensus, they are very different.
Ergo supports Sigma Protocols and is secured by proof of work.
The majority of bitcoin sidechains are just multisig based it seems.
Rosens multilayer system is a superior solution.
Larger thresholds also but offering clear assumptions of honestly with our distributed watcher or “reporting layer”.
Enable sidechains with better security.
What’s the latest on
@RosenBridge_erg
?
Finalizing the initial design specs for BTC and EVM these days.
Reviewing latest changes to support more watchers. This update is akin to a hard fork so it’s better to upgrade, hit stability with this improvement
Then… add more assets
A lot is happening behind the scenes with Rosen. I'm hoping we can start setting up the guard infrastructure this weekend.
I know there is a lot of focus on "wen."
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Have been saying this for a long time.
The level of grift for token integration once a mainnet is supported is pretty damn ridiculous in the space.
@nonkyc_exchange
I will make a video tomorrow with
@chepurnoy
about the Development DAO, Sigmachains, and general long-term visions
@ergo_platform
.
I am a big advocate of proof of work and open-source software. Both are foundational for open censorship-resistant money.
Ergo is a decentralized ecosystem.
We tried to formulate and spread our first principles and vision (Ergo Manifesto etc).
Always open to free improvisations around that (so to propose alternative visions) to have a broad and diverse story in the long term.
@ergo_platform
Excited for ETH/EVM
PoW assets as collateral are beautiful as they have a 0 rate of return and contribute nothing to security complexity once emission occurs.
Is the crypto space to the point yet where first principles are attractive again?
Actual decentralized networks, censorship resistance, open source code, transparent trust assumptions, privacy
Idk...
Protect those keys, and consider running your own full node.
@SatergoWallet
Imo the most under appreciated part of Ergo’s design is network parameters that are adjustable by miners on the fly.
No oversight or permission needed, just miner consensus.
Solves many problems long term that split PoW chains and communities.
Proof-of-Work cryptocurrencies with minimal trust assumptions, can be seen as digital gold, with decentralized mining network burning electricity in order to mint coins. With decentralized derivatives
that coexist in the same ledger (in Ergo), we can talk about digital gold 2.0
We should try to build an unstoppable digital economy based on programmable money, privacy features, better transparency and assumptions than financial systems, and security to resist nation states.
Nice bro, but TrumpMegatronInu is mooning.
It's crypto, baby.
@Ergo_Platform
When a legitimate project
@ergo_platform
built from scratch, based on research with a provably fair launch, has to make drama to get the same treatment as SafeMoon, a legit scam.
@RushCMC
It's crypto baby... Maybe, in the end, they just paid you all more, idk.
@RushCMC
@ergo_platform
@CoinMarketCap
Nobody asked you to erase it. The way it is shown now is simply not correct.
Take a look at safemoon on CMC. It just has a notice it moved to new contract address and a link to the new chart. While that was 1:1 swappable.
Why is this not possible for
#Ergo
?
