Occasional blogger and wannabe podcaster. I won't hesitate to show you my Rod Carew, Eric Davis, Fergie Jenkins, Mudcat Grant, Larry Doby & JR Richard cards.
In 1981 a 7 year old me walked to this neighborhood corner grocery (Vaught's Grocery) and bought a pack of 1981 Topps (probably bought some big league chew and a grape soda as well), and a lifelong love of
#thehobby
began. I drove by there this summer & took this. Good memories.
My
@RodCarew_29
collection wouldn't be complete without a card of this man.
Konrad Reuland tragically passed away in 2016 after suffering a brain aneurysm. An organ donor, his heart, kidneys and liver saved the lives of 3 people. His heart saved Mr. Carew's life 🙏.

A hill I'm willing to die on ... this is my least favorite week of the year.
It's July 1st, NOT the 4th. I've got a 6 month old screaming her head off. Take your damn fireworks and shove them up your ...
Every dang year man. July 4th is a ONE DAY event, not a two week event.
When tracking has indicated that your priority package (a true 1/1) will be delivered on Jan 26th ... but, you get a surprise delivery on the 2nd!!!
Both mom and our perfect little 6 lb 4 oz baby girl are both healthy and doing great.
In celebration of the recent release of Stadium club, let's have a thread paying tribute to its greatness.
Please share some of your all-time favorite TSC cards in the replies..
I started this career run of Rod Carew nearly 3 years ago. I knew the conditions I wanted and the prices I was willing to pay. Some cards eluded me due to finding them in the condition I wanted, and others due to price. The next to last card you'll see is the one that arrived…
I've been collecting cards for 42 years. I'm a Topps loyalist at my core. But in those 42 years, right there with '83-'85 topps, I don't know if there has been a better 3 year run of set design than '85-'87 Fleer.
Criminally underappreciated in my opinion.
@JWCardboard
@BerryNiceCards
Thing is, they do have coverage. Which the submitter pays for upon submitting.
He had the option to cover it for the full value for a $75 charge. He chose to only cover it for $5000 for a $25 charge. In an effort to save himself $50, he cost himself $40k
Reading about the Wander 1/1 being hit in a Walgreens pack and people upset that it was in retail.
Saw more than one say "Topps should make sure a card that valuable goes in hobby"
So we are wanting someone at topps to cherry pick cards at print and know where they are going???
I've oft' wondered why I've been wanting that Louis Vuitton bag at haven't been able to walk by a Sephora without going in more and more with each passing year.
In a tiny pharmacy inside the medical office building where my son's pediatricians office is. I've been going there 11 years now, these have been there the entire time. Can only assume they've been sitting there the full 30+ years.
For the 2nd year in a row my favorite local convenience store chain is carrying gravity packs of Topps (had bowman last year too)
Something so nostalgic and satisfying about just picking up a couple of packs at time at the corner store.
Proud dad moment. My 11 yr old presented his proposal on the need for better suicide prevention curriculum in KY schools in front of an audience of his peers at a 3 day youth in government conference tonight. He goes to the state Capitol in Frankfort to present again tomorrow.
Y'all know me, I always do my giveaways with a little twist.
YOU cannot with this by replying, or RT'ing, or following me.
But YOUR FRIEND who could use some card supplies could win them if you just tag them.
I'll do the giveaway Monday morning at 10:00 am
I'm conflicted.
My top 4 cards on my want list are
'54 Banks
'55 Jackie
'56 Jackie
'59 Roberto
Within my budget for my next purchase are either...
The Banks
Or
One of the Jackie's AND the Roberto
And I cannot figure out which direction I want to go.
Thoughts?
I need a little help. All I'm asking is if you and I interact at all on here, even if it's only that we like each others tweets from time to time, that you reply to this with the name(s) of the most important player(s) that you collect. Emphasis on collect!
Thank you
It's the rare occasion that you'll see me post personal crap on here. But my dad has been battling cancer for 2 years. Last year was tough on us. But both he and & I have gotten both our shots. And by damn, later today I'm going to his house and we are watching the Reds together!
Just thinking about baseball today.
Ponder this:
Nolan Ryan played in Majors at the same time as both Joe Nuxhall and later at the same time as Derek Jeter.
Nuxhall made his MLB debut in 1944
Jeter retired in 2014
🤯
@nut_history
Little did I know, less than 3 weeks later, thanks to this incredibly generous community ...
Here's a picture of a baseball card I like ... and OWN!!!!!
One of these days ... it could be raw, MC, doesn't matter ... and it may be after all 3 children graduate college, but I will make this same exact tweet some day.
For the 1st time in years, I bought myself a birthday present (last month.) It was finally delivered today! A Josh Gibson Homestead Grays Throwback jersey.
@nlbmprez
I knew I was getting a gift from
@IT_guy8706
today. But I did not expect this! A freaking
@RodCarew_29
signed jersey!!!
Simply an amazing gesture of kindness.
I really have no words except Thank You for allowing me to be a small part of this amazing community.
All those involved will be tagged in the comments.
I just got RAK'd. My coworkers knew I was home alone today. I guess they figured correctly that I wouldn't bother with any kind of special meal. So without telling me, they ordered a damn feast from Craker Barrel and just messaged me that I needed to go pick up my meal at 2:00 pm
Seriously... if you are the person responsible for this
@fergieajenkins
autographed ball that magically appeared in my mailbox today, please, even if you don't want public thanks, I would love if you DM'd me to let me know it was you. It's just perfect and I am so very grateful.
In honor of Jackie Robinson Day, here is one of the most beautiful sports cards ever printed.
It's on my Mt Rushmore of best cards ever. Simply amazing card.
By my calculations, there have been 8,789,346 tweets about Bo Bichette tonight with a "play" on his name. And fully 8,789,322 of them have been "No Bichette". c'mon guys, we can do better than that.
Happy 1/1!
In honor of today, let's have s thread full of photos of your 1/1's
I'll show you mine if you show me yours!
This is the only one I have ... pulled from Stadium club "last year"
Here's the card. My mom was the biggest reds fan I ever knew. She did not miss a game on TV. Just before dementia took her from us, he was her very last favorite Reds player. She absolutely loved him. With opening day around the corner and then pulling this card, it just got me.
This won't get as much interaction as a hobby beef/drama tweet. But it should!
Came home to find this amazing card in my mailbox accompanied by a sincere handwritten note from
@NYAZSPORTSFAN
Why? Just because he is the epitome of
#HeartOfTheHobby
Thank you so much my friend.
If you're the guy who sees someone post a card they are obviously excited about, and you think it's a swell idea to reply "that bottom right corner looks bad" or "right edge is rough" ...
... don't be that guy
Who needs some top loaders and penny sleeves?? If you could use some, just reply to this with a good .gif that will make people smile. Ill pick a winner from all the replies on Saturday night. No need to RT or follow to be eligible... just make someone smile with a good .gif
If you are my age, the question isn't did you have one? It's "which team did you have?"
I got this one for Christmas the year Jamal Mashburn was drafted.
I don't feel we show enough hobby love to Miggy.
5 hits away from becoming only the 7th player in MLB history with 3000 hits and 500 HR
Only player in the last 55 years to win the triple crown.
Underappreciated in his own time.
*2020 Topps update photo variation*
I have intentionally tried to keep this account separate from anything controversial. But that ends right here. If you support, endorse, agree with, or still follow
@mitsche4
after tonight. I am requesting you to unfollow and block me right now. We don't need to be interacting.
Every once in a while, I take this one off the shelf just to admire it close up. Other than the '67 rookie auto, it's my favorite card in the Carew PC.
You just never know what changes life has in store.
Two years ago, I shared this. Today, I'm about to have a Thanksgiving meal with one of these very people and my children for the first time in the home we share together.
No hate on Mike Trout. But its not uncommon on here to see him declared the best to ever play the game. Are his 1st 10 seasons far and away demonstrably that much better than let's say ... Pujols?
2020 sucked, we can all agree. But another thing I hope we all agree on as well, is how awesome it was in 2020, the 100th aniv year, to see The Negro Leagues get the long overdue attention and respect they have deserved but never gotten. Thanks
@nlbmprez
for leading that charge!
For the 2nd time in 13 months, I'm posting something personal on here. But since many of you heard the story of me watching Reds opening day w/ my dad. I thought I'd share this text I got from him tonight. (After his latest surgery/scope last week) 🙏
This was 7 years ago, but popped up on my "memories" today. This is but one reason why I'm a huge
@FlavaFraz21
fan! Such a good story, and such a good dude.
#IMissBaseball
Hi, my name is Ché. I collect cards. I really like collecting Rod Carew & Eric Davis cards. If you PC a player that isn't the flavor of the month & like to tweet about it, I'd like to follow you. Tell me, or show me a player you PC for the love of the hobby and not for the $.
Day 113: a 365 day tribute to collecting
How about a 2021 Allen & Ginter Fergie Jenkins on card auto! This card arrived today directly from
@fergieajenkins
himself. That makes this absolutely priceless to me. It is now the most important card in my collection.
#WhyICollect
Is there a singular moment you can point to as THE moment in your hobby journey?
I know mine. The day when I saw a DM from Fergie Jenkins asking for my address so he could send me this card a couple of months prior to the product release.
I don't know how it could get better.
I feel like this is one of those pages in "Highlights" magazine when we were kids, where we're supposed to spot everything that was wrong.
How many can you spot?
It's not every day that a true Mt. Rushmore card finally makes it's way into the PC. I've been fortunate enough to have 2 in the last month. 1st the Satch, and now tonight, this beautiful Erine Banks. I couldn't be happier with it!
My apologies if I went overboard in sharing some of the items I received for Christmas. Looking back I feel like I came across as "flexing".
I just haven't purchased very many cards at all this year. But all this amazing stuff I received this week made me feel like a kid again!
Just 22 days before his life threatening career ending stroke, JR Richard tossed 2 scoreless innings in his final all-star game. No surprise to see
@RodCarew_29
did reach base though. Mr. Carew, do you have any memories or stories about JR or of facing him that day?
I pulled this card from a pack I opened at
@KentuckyCards
shop. There were about 5 other guys at the counter when I opened it. All of them, along with the shop manager
@TreyHuntsmanSEC
were as happy as I was to see that HOF legend auto. High fives all around.
That's

I've been a dad for 13 years now. But this my first go round as a
#girldad
I am 100%, undeniably, head over heels wrapped around this little nugget's finger.
What's one thing kids today will never understand?
Today's kids find out if it's a snow day via text.
They'll never know getting up at 6:00 am to watch the crawler at the bottom of the screen like it was the doggone NFL draft.
