Much of the sequencing was done by our neighbours at the @sangerinstitute. Our @ensembl resource was created to annotate the human genome. It now hosts data from thousands of species. The volume & complexity of the data have changed but our mission to make them open has not💪.

🧬 The first draft of the human genome turns 25 today!🎂 . On 26 June 2000, the UK & US announced the first full map of the 3 billion DNA base pairs that make us human. A milestone for humanity, powered by global collaboration. #HumanGenome.
