We have declared a Critical Incident due to sustained pressures across the Trust, in particular in A&E. Please only use our A&E in a life-threatening accident or emergency, using other services such as GPs, NHS111 and pharmacies in all other cases.

Due to the size of the incident on the M1 the resulting recovery is extensive, and will take several hours. This will mean long delays for motorists, and the closure is causing heavy traffic around Leicestershire. Please avoid the affected area and plan your journeys accordingly.

@EMASNHSTrust my wife collapsed at home on Monday. I phoned 999, the ambulance was there within minutes. The crew were fantastic. They were made up of a qualified paramedic, a trainee and a University trainee. They are all a credit to the EMAS. Thank you from my wife and I. đź‘Ź

50 years ago today, ambulance driver Terry Wilkinson was shot dead in Leicester while bravely attempting to move his ambulance to protect police officers from the shooter. Our thoughts are with his family. Terry is remembered at our Narborough Memorial Garden & Education Centre.
